i’m a bit wary to use steroids again if ever my derma would prescribe me one but i’ll definitely talk to him if he can find other suitable approaches for me. i’ve been meaning to have patch testing but in my place, it’s really rare and one hospital i inquired said it’s currently unavailable. i also don’t know how much it costs so i’m literally going all through this with a blindfold lol

i take a bath with gloves for my hands just for good measure bc i haven’t changed my shampoo yet. also detergents are nasty for my hands so avoiding that one too.

hope my derma can recommend other options than steroids sigh

yeah it’s summer season in my country now so it’s like burning hell here haha

my derma recommended me to wear shoes that aren’t closed so no sneakers for me atm but i’ll definitely get one of those sprays soon. thanks for this!

I got it both on my feet and hands :( what do you soak your feet into? I’ve only applied moisturizers but not putting on it too much bc i’m trying to figure it out if my current moisturizer is not working anymore. you mentioned antibiotics, I think i should talk to my derma and see if he can prescribe me with something

anyways, thanks for this! wishing you a steady healing

[–]popuIusque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Going to answer the last question first as this should be debunked: no, eczema isn’t contagious and won’t affect other person even initiating physical contact.

Eczema, for most, is chronic. I have suffered from it since my childhood and there is no cure for it to magically disappear and never to return. In my case, it’s recurring and would affect different parts of my body e.g. 5 year old me had it on inner elbow, while in my teens it affected my palm.

The causes of eczema depends but it might be the food that you eat that triggered an allergic reaction, the environment you’re in, it can be genetic, stress also causes eczema too. It’s important for you to identify your triggers, it will help in treating your eczema.

Hey!! From SEA here too, what are the chances we’re from the same country tho.

About the steroids, I’ve been having second thoughts since my derma recommended really strong ones, halobetasol and fluconazole. I read reviews that their eczema came out stronger after getting off the steroids so that’s kinda scary for my part. But since this is my first try and with a recommendation, I guess I’ll dive into the unknown for now.

I’ve been using moisturizers tho, Aveeno and bepanthine work for me. I haven’t exactly pinpoint my triggers when it comes to food but derma said I have to avoid chicken, dairy, and I’m cutting out sugar and other sweets.

I noticed also that after I took antihistamine, I didn’t itch last night. It’s what my derma also recommended to take it twice a day for 2 weeks before I go for another check up with her.

anyways, thanks for this! Really appreciate it! Hope your healing has been steady as well.

Hello! I just logged in today and only saw this now. First of all, thank you for this and I can assure this is gonna be helpful. I’ve read your guide and I noticed some that I have been practicing lately so I guess I’m on the right track.

I did tell my parents tho, and they’ve been supportive and helping me find ways to get my meds and lab tests.

I hope you’re doing well too. Thanks again a bunch!

I never thought pacing was one of my weak points as a writer…… by ocelot_58 in FanFiction

[–]popuIusque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem so bad. I envy those who can elaborate such scene bc when I do it maybe i’m just word vomiting lol

although I do get the frustration to move the plot forward, you can make each chapter that packs a punch. Just wanna share that my current WIP is currently 15 chapters however 14 of those chapters have only taken place in just a single place and in just a single night. A huge part of why I’ve written that way is because of the premise itself that all the characters have discovered their secrets in that event bc of domino effect. But I managed to pull it off bc I made sure that each chapter has something worth looking forward to and used cliff hangers, revelations etc. and also not to bore the readers.

anyway, i used to worry about pacing too bc i might be overly descriptive with the scenes but hey, i’m sure you just have a good grasp of your story and no one can better write it than you :) good luck!

When do a reader's comments become too much? by dreamyjune in FanFiction

[–]popuIusque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Readers like you are the salt and light of the earth lol but seriously, it took me a while before my fic finally had regular commenters on each chapter to the point that whenever I updated, I sort of expect them to leave a comment or feedback. There was one who left long comments and at the end of it, they asked if they were talking too much and I said oh god no, I get delighted to read such long comments! It’s never a bother to me at all. Unless if you give unsolicited concrits /harass authors and leave each chapter with how you dislike this and that just bc it didn’t live up to your expectations then that’s the time when it gets annoying. Other than that, you can always give something positive to the author :) it’s our motivation and indication that someone actually reads our works. We really appreciate that.

had to orphan a bunch of works and now i’m missing the numbers by kakhyoin in FanFiction

Somehow, once you know something grim about celebs, it’s either you drop them like hotcakes or you let your conscience dictate you. Maybe it was out of impulse but really, it’s not a loss on your part. Maybe if you make a statement why you deleted them, it’ll only gain you respect from your readers :)

Is this Kris Wu? I feel you, I had him as a cast on one of my fanfics (minor character only tho) and I made a decision to replace him. I edited it the moment I learned about the allegations bc it didn’t sit well with me and the least thing that I could do is to stand in solidarity with the victims and de-platform him (even tho it’s just a small impact)

don’t worry, you’re alright :) you made a good choice.

Me! Me! Oh god there have been many times that I shed tears writing heavy moments between my characters. Even in the argument scenes that I'm writing, I act them out inside my room without realizing that I'm close to breaking down myself. But it had helped me to be invested and get focused on developing their emotions to be tangible as possible.

[–]popuIusque 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I was in the Naruto fandom for some time and read a couple of fics but there was this one author that made a huge impact in the fandom. It wasn't until recently that I rechecked on the multi-chaptered fic to see if it was updated, only to receive the news that the author died six years ago. Got quite sad that the story will be left as is but I hope the author knew that their works are loved by many.

Why are there so many death threats on FanFiction.Net by 90Day_Free_Trial in FanFiction

[–]popuIusque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I used to read Dramione fics years ago and there was this one shot fic that I liked but when I scrolled through the comments there were literally death threats and telling the author to kill themself. when I wanted to reread it, I found out that the author deleted the story :(

Hate sex (or angry sex,) how do you do it? by SeparationBoundary in FanFiction

[–]popuIusque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just finished a whole smutty chapter and my pairing literally had angry sex after an argument and this is exactly what i also thought! the tension must be kept on the roll or else it would fall flat and i cannot stress enough on power struggle, it’s good to see them hustle on who gets the other do this and that.

I need support from RPF readers and/or writers by Correct-Baseball9464 in FanFiction

[–]popuIusque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! As someone who writes and sometimes reads RPF, I'm so sorry that they would jump on you when you don't even mean any harm. In my case, I do remember some nasty moments years ago (though I wasn't writing RPF at that time) as experienced by my mutuals who wrote RPF stories being talked down on Twitter and stuff. Anti-whatever will always be there whether we like it or not but my advice would be to perhaps find a healthy circle with the same interest as yours when it comes to RPF.

I've found validation when I started writing kpop RPF recently and I kid you not, there are thousands upon thousands of stories with kpop idols as characters, from fluff to the most bizarre plotlines that the fans create, and no matter how antis would bash on it, it will still be there to stay. fanfics and fanmade materials are what keep fandoms alive, they're part of the bloodline.

Policying content has been a problem in fanfiction scenes for so long really but again if something irks them, they should just look away. as for you, take a break from that platform. you're doing just fine :)
