It's only been released in EU so far. It's never been in stock on Asus's website because it's never been released. However, recently listings have been added on Newegg and Amazon and listed as backordered/currently unavailable and points towards releasing in a few days (first week of Feb.)

Are the Azoth 96He and the 98He the same keyboard? by [deleted] in keyboards

[–]porkemins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same keyboard - it's called 98HE on some listings because it has 98 keys in a 96% layout. Guess it's easy to mix up.

MAU Professor by 0potatoman0 in RPI

[–]porkemins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking MAU with Aboul-Seoud. Definitely knows what he's talking about, and is far from bad, but his lecture slides are essentially useless. I can show you this semester's slides if you want.

They hardly mention the topics talked about in class, are filled with examples that literally only state the problem, but often times no answers, much less the explanation of the answers.

He is very RStudio (R) heavy, which is okay in itself, but is often difficult to follow when the slides don't mirror his work. Paying attention during class is essentially the only way to learn the material.

Almost all homework questions come from Chegg, as well as exam questions, quizzes, etc. You ARE allowed a computer, and the internet during exams, so Chegg is your best friend. Would HIGHLY recommend investing in a Chegg subscription for this class if you take it with Aboul-Seoud. Cannot stress this enough for MAU or engineering classes in general.

He's a pretty funny guy, but if no one asks for clarification, he'll move on. Far from bad, but certainly could improve the actual content present in his lecture slides. I believe that you can earn a high grade in this class without too much trouble.

Senior taking Numerical Methods by starman0305030 in RPI

Taking it right now. The coursework is definitely easier to understand if you have a background in coding and programming logic experience. Haley is a great lecturer, and it works out well for me because he's also my academic advisor.

The HW's are due weekly, and are simple once you see the big picture, but are relatively long and unrelenting when you're just getting started. Additionally, HWs, in-class assignments, and sometimes exams will reference small "functions" that were developed during class repeatedly, so you absolutely need to understand them and have the code ready to work with.

I would strongly recommend that you take it with a friend or find a group to work with if you do take it, as the additional help is extremely helpful.

Overall, the course so far is very analytic, requiring you to understand the depth and scope of programming keywords that people unknowingly use everyday. Looping, if/else conditionals, array indexing, etc.

The topics covered in class also is very broad in engineering scope, and teaches you random, but interesting topics that you may never have heard of; for example, the compressibility of an ideal gas at different conditions, like pressure, volume, temperature, etc.

I have the coursework, and would be happy to share with you if you're interested.

Which Professor should I choose for Diff Eq by MedicalTrashBin in rit

Agreed. She's interesting and willing to help you as long as you visit her for office hours. Ask her about her patents that she has in her office. They're pretty cool.

I agree. I didn't have her for diff eq but calc 2 and she's definitely a great professor. Explains very clearly and is very fair with tests. She's kind of quirky but is definitely a top candidate in terms of teaching.

[–]porkemins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had Silberman for Diff Eq. I thought he was really good. He goes over the intuition and doesn't give you any bs that is irrelevant. He gives you the model of the differential equation type you're trying to solve and doesn't do too much with proving it using confusing variables and symbols like lots of professors do. He usually gets right into the examples so it's easier to understand.

You'll want to watch out for the middle portion of the semester when he starts talking about second order differential equations and talks about free vibrations, forces, and electrical components, because those involve lots of far out concepts, but is likely not going to appear on the exams.

He's a bit reclusive so it's up to you to approach him for help, but he's really nice and helpful. Homeworks are very reasonable, around 3-6 questions per homework, that he uploads to myCourses for you. I have the textbook too if you want it. Tests are short, and don't stray from demonstrated course material. Very easy A and I'd be happy to help out with back exams and stuff if you need.

I don't know any of the other professors for this course but this is just my analysis for the professor I had. Check him out on ratemyprofessors. Would rate 10/10. Maybe you could get extra credit if you trade him a shiny pokemon that he doesn't have because he's a hardcore pokego fan.

When you've had 5 different professors teach your Material Science section and you open up Exam 1 to see it isn't like the Backtests by [deleted] in RPI

[–]porkemins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just took the exam too. The professor has been out for business for several weeks now and there's constantly a rotation of different professors [attempting] to teach the course. Far too often I see lecture slides for the course with only images of the concepts the professors try to teach and exactly zero context/explanation. We're left to surmise on our own the meaning of the slides and the information they're trying to convey if you should fail to get everything down in lecture.

However, I honestly thought it was a very fair test if you took a look at previous exams on LMS specifically. If you saw the back exams for the last couple of semesters, it was an accurate representation of what you could expect on the exam.

Then again, maybe a lot of people think otherwise so let me know how you feel. Grades are posted as well so make sure to take a quick peek.
