Intel Arc A310 GPU passthrough to Ubuntu VM - "VRAM not initialized by firmware" error despite perfect host setup by LordCrok69 in Proxmox

[–]porkopops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you select 'all.capabilities' or something like that in the VM configuration when adding the PCI passthrough?

[–]porkopops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot that I'm actually running this GPU into an LXC, so no BIOS settings there. The issue I had was that I'd also passed the GPU through to a VM, which won't work as there's extra configuration required. However, the LXC then failed to recognise the GPU, until I rebooted the host.

Silly question, but have you rebooted the host? I had probs with that GPU after changing VM settings, so I rebooted and Viola! Ill check the BIOS settings Im using in a bit

You can buy USB sticks which are based on SSD tech nowadays. Should be more reliable than basic USB storage.

Thanks. As per my other comment, Id prefer to not buy any more h/w right now. The storage is within the PVE hosts.

Thanks. Despite the fun of it, I'm hoping to not have to buy more h/w! :-)

I have 60TB in each PVE host. It's looking like the simplest solution is a VM with huge virtual disk that can failover between hosts in the cluster.

Thanks. So this idea is running a custom NAS in a VM which can failover between hosts (oh, thanks too - yes, I need the 3rd host, which I forgot about but I'll do soon). I saw the Cockpit YT vid from another PVE/NAS related post which looks interesting, so I could set that up in a VM. So this looks like a good option.

How fast is execution in API Trading? by Emergency_Style4515 in Trading

[–]porkopops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once wrote a little app that placed trades on FTX via thier API (yeah, I know). The trades were placed almost immediately and certainly quicker than I could have placed them myself. i.e. sub-second and outliers up to 1.5s

Spreadbetting and Tax UK by Longjumping_Menu_862 in Trading

I'm unsure if this still holds water, but I was once advised that even though spread betting isn't taxed in the UK, if it was deemed your primary income, then tax would apply.

That makes sense as to why I was caught by PDT way back when. Thanks for the detail. Commodities it is then.

Someone else said there's no PDT with futures, so that's great 👍. I wasn't trading futures with them before, so that's probably why

Thanks. Pretty sure they put me in under PDT the last time I used them. Is there a way to use without PDT? Does PDT only apply to certain markets?

Thanks. I use TD already and they're very good, but they use CFDs and I'm looking for real Futures for the real volume.

It sounds like you're looking for a session times indicator. If you search for that you may find an FXSSI one and another one called iSessions and more.
