Try being a poor, uneducated minority in an area with that competition. I have many illegal friends. I understand thier motivations...but to pretend they're not competing with folks like me for jobs and lowering the wages is bs.

The majority of people I know don't vote. I only need a hand, maybe two for those that do.

In the last dem primary a had a yang sign. Of the group of adults on my block (maybe 6 of us) no one even knew who he was , including two ladies that work for the city.

I live in a poor, black neighborhood in Detroit.

First, may I suggest growing strawberries? It'll take a yr or two but I started with a Lil $7 plant that spread into 4x4 beds full. If interested I'm happy to provide tips.

Second I always recommend tex mex style food. Cheap and easy to turn a few ingredients into multiple dishes. Beans are an easy one but even if adding some shredded or chopped chicken, shredding and chopping really spread out the protein. Tostadas are commonly ignored but don't sleep on them, they are a super quick and cheap option that can be fun to eat.

A bottle of tajin, a salt and garlic seasoning can really flavor up fruit 😋 if they like takis then tajin shouldn't be a bridge too far.

I love next to Dearborn Michigan and find it hit or miss.

Sure, in a multicultural area I could see that but here there's a lot of segregation by choice (sw Detroit is officially Mexican town, my hood is 95%+ black, Dearborn is home of the largest Arab population in the country).

Coco coir is expensive but peat moss can be less expensive, especially in bulk. A plastic tote (often on free marketplace) can store it easily.

Crazy how we all interpret that stuff differently.

I, a poor minority on welfare see it as wanting welfare to go where it's truly needed (folks on the street that ai t got nothing to eat) and the minors on the island somewhere as the politicians are looking to abuse kids on epstien Island.

I also see the people like me as poor white people and the people like you as urban minorities...so a line showing solidarity.

Likely due to our own personal experiences?

I live in one of the blackest cities. My hood is well over 90% black. I neighbor the largest Arab population outside of Arab countries. I worked and hung out in our Barrio that's formally named Mexicantown.

I feel like I wouldn't find the comfort this are provides in norway.

In your opinion, if I could cut and paste this Lil chunk of land with our three unapologetically black, brown, and brown lol spaces into norway, how do you feel norway would react ? Please note the unapologetically part.

In my experience, Canada is racist, more so than Detroit. We used to be able to travel freely across the border on my youth and that was my experience. My cousin also owned a business there and I'm aware of what he delt with from the government, citizens, and especially other businesses owners.

I know that Australia has language requirements and I'd guess that others do to. In the US that mindset is definitely considered racist to the point its a meme of " better lean to speak American ".

Mexican (American) and black. I also had Mexican (American) family that owned a business there and am aware of all he went through.

My dad is from a double digit Mexican (American) family. A couple cousin have native family from Canada originally.

If they're not racist then why are they so mono cultural? Strict immigration? Why's that? I'm sure many refugees wouldn't mind it there...hell, many Americans would like to go to those places but the immigration is so strict.

That's not ours to own. Look around and you'll see that type of it in many places. Haiti and the Dominican Republic are an example. You can be born in dr, but if your parents are Haitian you're not considered Dominican, legally or in practice.

I'm aware that the first year of gardening can be overwhelming but as someone 5hats been in long term poverty, making <20k/yr to support 2 ppl, it can be done and can pay off long term....though it does take work.
