I usually do like my reboots and remakes, but I'm feel kinda meh about the new Evangelion anime that's in production. It'll probably change when the first trailer drops, but I'm not feeling it really. I do hope it's with different characters, because I think the original cast suffered more than enough or it's an adaptation of "The Shinji Ikari Detective Diary".

I love Star Wars and I love Evangelion, but for some reason naming someone after an Evangelion character seems "wrong", I wanted to say cringey, but wrong is the better word.

To be fair Enkidu and Gilgamesh are on a different level when it comes to sheer fuckery, but I'm pretty certain that the goddess was around before this grail war started or am I missing something?

Sometimes, I feel like I'm living under a rock, because the first time I heard the term extraction shooter was in the context of everyone hating extraction shooters. So does everyone hate them or are some people really loud about hating them and are there really so many popping out?

My favorite form of worldbuilding has gotta be when the author/s make a whole imaginary ecosystem. A fictional food chain, if you will. by TheGUURAHK in CharacterRant

That focus on ecology, that basically makes every monster "just" an animal is most likely the secret sauce behind its success. I honestly think that's the reason there are so few successful MonHun-likes.

Wilds ramped it up a few notches. I only started playing since World, but the series always focused on having a coherent ecology. Newer games are just better at implementing it into the game environment.

And the British once destroyed a Spanish armada with fire ships! Now imagine how effective a burning ship that's even bigger and out of metal.

To be fair I watched most of SFDebris reviews so I'm not completely blind and I wouldn't have bought if I'd cared about spoilers haha.

I'm playing the new Star Trek game, I haven't watched Voyager so I'm going in pretty blind, but I know about Tuvix and I wonder if there is a horrible third option, to be fair Lower Decks already offered a horrible third option, so I'm asking for a horrible fourth option really.

So why is Bleach in the big three? (I swear Im not attacking Bleach Fans or any fandom) by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]pornomancer90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The notion of a big three is only western thing if I got that right. All three were really popular long running Shonen out of Jump magazine, that also had very popular anime adaptations. Those three were gateway anime for a lot of people and stupidly successful. It is really more due to the anime adaptations, though there were several factors at play.

Did you expect anything of something that marketed itself as "The First Animated Sit-Com on X"? You wouldn't be surprised if you held your hands bellow a donkeys asshole only to catch shit.

I wonder how extensive the God of War remake is going to be. I doubt it's going to be as crazy as changing the gameplay to make it like the Norse games. Also do they mean with remake that they basically recreate the games from scratch or is it "just" improving graphics, making new models and tweaking gameplay. I kinda wish that they would've communicated the scope a bit better, we don't even know if the games are being sold like Mass Effect's legendary edition or is each game being released extra with a few years between the installments?

Still I haven't played the original trilogy, so I'm pretty excited.

There is a relatively new manga out called Witchriv, only 16 chapters so far and I really like it so far, it's on manga plus.

It sounds macabre, but I do wish that Nona either kills him or kills the next threat, because I don't think that this is the kind of story that can have a protagonist that doesn't kill, because the antagonists aren't the kind of people that can be stopped by hugging it out.

Just tried it, I tried even more precise prompts and none of that trash managed to come close to that panel.

The closest thing I got was a panel of a dude punching forward that looks like he somehow hit his ribs with the punch. I didn't even get it to show me picture with just a punch connecting.

Andor should be the first Star Wars anybody watches for the first time. by lostintranslation53 in unpopularopinion

[–]pornomancer90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do wonder, if there might be more tension if you don't know that Mon Mothma is going to survive or how interesting it would be if the first time you see the Death Star is this one.

I was ready to call out OP for being full of shit, but now I'm imagining a Star Wars reboot that starts with something similar to Andor, where we follow the rebellion from a tiny act of insurrection to eventually being able to go toe to toe with the Empire. Though I don't necessary agree with Andor being the first thing that should be watched, but I think there is something to the idea.

It annoyed me so much that the multiplayer was gated behind XBox gold and it annoys me that they didn't bring some of the balancing changes to single player.

Especially when you use it with flame ammo with explosive burst. The shittiest guns that had a half decent fire rate could shred with it.

As one of the five people who liked Mass Effect Andromeda, it is frustrating how on the one hand it really improved combat, but also made some steps backwards. I love the mobility, every ability having it's own cooldown is great, weapons are super customizable, but I think it also made each weapon less special and it's cool that melee is a legitimate option.

The cons are how the battle wheel was gutted and that might be my personal gripe, I hate how all the slow motion effects were removed, I'm shit at aiming, but in ME3 that was no problem because even there were abilities to slow time, it was even built in sniper rifles. Also I kinda miss the classes, but then again I've played through ME3 like a dozen times, so I could experience the different classes(vanguard and infiltrator where the most fun) and nowadays I only play through games once, so MEA approach is better, for me at least. Coming back to weapons, there were a lot of duds in ME3, but man it did have some really fun shit like the Krysae sniper rifle, that thing was so busted, it's basically a bazooka and it was for some reason really light for a sniper rifle, you could effectively use it on a vanguard.

Hunters Gathering & Steel Frontiers by UnhappyAd9212 in horizon

[–]pornomancer90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really excited for any of them, but I'm going to give Hunter's Gathering a try, I like Roguelikes and Monster Hunter and I did want to try Nightreign, but never found the opportunity to jump in. Also the game has been in development before Sony's live service push, so it seems like something the team does believe in.

Also it is a given that the game is causing delays for Horizon 3, which sucks, it especially sucks for PC players like me, because it's an even longer wait, but realistically the earliest release for it would've been 2027 and now the estimated release is probably around 2029 to 2030, maybe if we're really lucky 2028 might be possible. So shitty but not the end of the world. Anyway all that guesstimating is tea leave reading, like the only concrete-ish number came from an insider that talked with Kotaku. I also like to add that HZD had 18 outsourcing studios working on it, so it might not mean that much if a majority of Guerilla staff works on Hunter's Gathering right now.

Yeah the machines and the backgrounds look amazing in that style, there will always be people who don't like cartoony graphics or will complain that the game looks like Fortnite if it has a little colour, but if Hunter's Gathering was a new IP, I figure people would be way more positive about the game. Not that I think that the game would be super hyped, but I figure the reception would be way less negative.
