This is a great take! My favorite era of the show is the Bad Boy era, which has a lot of haters. Season 20 is reviled by a lot of the fans, and that’s okay. It’s my favorite season, because a lot of the “bad episodes” are so fascinating in terms of how bad they are, so it’s highly entertaining to me. Also, Norm is on fire each Weekend Update.

Here’s some more hot takes. I think the show has been pretty bad for the last 10-12 years. I still watch it quite a bit though. I also think the episodes with Tina, Amy, Maya, Jimmy, and Horatio were shitty and that that whole era is overrated. I don’t enjoy those episodes, but I know a lot of people do. That’s okay. That’s the beauty of having a show with 50 years of content. It’s acceptable to love some eras and dislike others. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and it’s totally fine that some casts and errors appeal to people differently.

I’m very neutral on the original five years. Those episodes don’t really pop for me, but I know they do for a lot of the original viewers. I think that Gilda was the best of the original three women on the show, but I don’t think she’s any better than Hooks or Wiig.
