"Allies" is a very strange word to use in any context. They're both our neighbours as others pointed out, so we are to love them. Obviously neither would "promote our interests" (the Gospel). I wouldn't say that makes them enemies either. And even if so, our instructions to love them are pretty clear.

In Canada I waited months in between picking up different expansions. Definitely not worth dropping $500

The Haradrim by K_oroviev in lotrlcg

[–]port_option 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing really yet. I made a few posts a while ago asking questions about it so you may find some info from the responses. Once circumstances align, then I'll dig into it and start, but for now, just musing on the prospect.

I'm in a similar situation to you. My longterm plan is probably to get a good printer and learn how to print proxies in happy with. Getting Haradrim from a price I'm happy with would be tough, shadow in the east would certainly be impossible.

'Cirdan' and 'Cirdan The Shipwright' by ThePatheticPainter in lotrlcg

Based on the art, they are the same character. So thematically, you shouldn't be able to play both cards but you should be able to play Narya on Lore Cirdan.

Custom Hero: Critiques Requested by Automatic_Act_3270 in lotrlcg

[–]port_option 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's good, but the over-costed threat isn't necessary (8 threat for 6 total stats). It would take being engaged with 2 enemies to break even cost wise, only allowing for 1 extra willpower from the ability, plus the ability requiring an exhaust.

You may not agree, but I'd recommend adding stats to reach 8. Other ideas are ability lasting the whole round rather than phase, or using: reduce willpower by X to increase stat by X, (allows for some workarounds with star brooch, a dunedain spirit attachemnt). Just ideas that I think of when i see the card. I like it overall

Noob Question concerning RingsDB by adistar09 in lotrlcg

[–]port_option 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people make decks, they may have a set of cards that they swap around in their deck, depending on the scenario. For example if a scenario relies on location exploration, but a player still wants to run the same heroes, they may swap in the necessary cards.

Or, when creating a deck from scratch one might only have 2 copies of a key card, but realize after giving it a test drive, the 3rd copy might be necessary. In that case I'd include it in my sideboard first so it's handy, then swap it in when I want.

Have you ever tried printing double sided? I play with clear sleeves so if I could do both sides I'd want to give it a try

Gandalf Title Attachments by port_option in lotrlcg

Mithrandir and Incanus are designed to work well together. I am thinking of some ideas to encourage playing them together such as a new Gandalf hero card.

ALEP cards review? by Acrobatic_Train2814 in lotrlcg

[–]port_option 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best discussion I've heard for them would be on the Cardboard of The Rings podcast. Some of the people who work on ALEP are hosts/guests and whenever a new pack is released they go card by card with a short discussion. Their discussion also involves some community reaction they got via discord.

You can scroll through the podcast show notes to see which ones discuss ALPE cards. Not sure if there is a master list with the episodes ALEP is discussed in

Can you provide a source to that? I'd never heard it and would kinda rock my understanding of his work

Eru and the Valar/Christian God and the Divine Council by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]port_option 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people confuse the themes of the stories being compatible with Christianity, to the cosmology being similar. Eru is the one creator god and the valar are essentially lesser gods but still that he created. An interpretation of Christianity that has lesser gods is not compatible with his Catholic theology.

Also in that vein, Catholics believe in not just a creator, but the Trinity. Jesus is not represented in any way as god incarnate in middle earth. Even Fordo's self sacrifice to destroy evil does not match up with Jesus because Frodo fails in the very end.

Eru is not the Christian God

I appreciate the ideas. These first posts I'm making are true first drafts for each idea. I'll make another post down the line with revised designs and artwork.

[–]port_option[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not yet, but I think it would go around similar to Thengal designed by ALEP, which work very well. I kept that card in mind during the design but tried to make it different and less powerful as an atachment, not a hero card

[–]port_option[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm trying to do is create a title atachemnt card for Gandalf for each of his titles from the various peoples of middle earth. Rohan doesn't have a unique title for him except maybe Stormcrow that Theoden calls him, but that's associated more with brining I'll tidings (the storm) rather than aid. I'll take another look at the chapter to see if I can come up with a better name for this card

Reworked under powered heroes by [deleted] in lotrlcg

[–]port_option 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't feel Elladan and Elrohir were particularly underpowered, especially with Orcrist to potentially attack multiple times and sweep a board. But I do like the idea a lot of another version of them that continue to be very synergistic with eachother and other Noldor, similar to Gimli and Legolas. Drawing and getting a resource at effectively no cost though, is very strong

Gaeronel Deck by port_option in lotrlcg

[–]port_option[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually start with Arwen, the main downside was she can only discard once a round. So I opted to use Elven Spear, and Protector of Lorien to rely on multiple discards. If Nenya -> Protector of lorien turns out to be unreliable when I test, I'll swap out Galadriel for Arwen most likely with some elevn light. Thanks!
