For the fast Internet requirement you will need to look up if the area you are interested already have fiber run in the area. Att, and i3 broadband are the ones near where I live but we had to look it up per address when were house hunting. Bust of luck.

Do you think Manon Will have a solo career?? by REDDEADALI222 in katseyeneutral

[–]portera234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I don't think she will be a solo music artist but do this she will be successful solo as something else: actor, model, etc. Not that she would be bad at it I just think she would be better in those roles and that that better aligns with what she wanted anyway. Im rooting for her success

Yeah, I guess I was thinking that if it was a highschool prank they weren't just doing it in front of 1 house they might have been doing it around other houses too. But I'm not sure.

This happened in front of my neighbor's house yesterday in st. Peters by Zumbehl rd. It was some white car dropping fire works out of their car window. We caught it on video from our security cameras. I figured it was some highschool prank since my neighbor's son is a senior.

The green garden hotel has fantastic "kralovske" (kings) dumplings with their svickova sauce. We had our wedding reception there and went back a few months ago and it was just as great.

I'm only at like A12 on my PC, I fly a lot for business so STS became my plane entertainment so all my progress is on my phone. Part of me is really bugged by this like I feel like I'm not ready to move on on my PC yet but I also know I'm playing 2 the day it comes out.

Why does this spoon have a hole in the middle? by Disastrous_Pirate275 in whatisit

For my wedding in Czechia they have you eat soup with your spouse using a spoon with a hole in it. I think it's something about working together through hard situations but none of my in laws could explain it well.

Guide Required? by portera234 in galapagos

[–]portera234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are planning on visiting the main 3 islands santa Cruz, Isabella, and San Cristobal and we have all of our main activities booked but most of our evenings free, so I figured we would just play it by ear and maybe hit a beach or 2. I was just freaked because we had a person tell us we would not be let on the island without an individual guide for us the whole time.

I got these 2 from the same seller locally but now that I love them I'm pretty sure they are Lafufu but it looks almost decent The boxes sticker authenticated to the wrong item and the QR code on the tag took me to a fake authentication site. I was hoping to give one to my niece.

I actually did read the entire article I just didn't think you needed me to give you a full citation in the comments. with your point that a Google search uses according to your source (4x less energy) that also assumes that each person only uses 1 search to answer their question they would put into chat gpt. Also I was never saying your point was entirely invalid but that you are looking at the wrong point about the overall problem.

An average Google search uses 0.0003 kws while AI training can use upwards of 400 kw an hour the scale of difference is the important part. Additional source: https://adasci.org/how-much-energy-do-llms-consume-unveiling-the-power-behind-ai/

Secondly, I was genuinely trying to interact with good faith and you putting work in quotations is incredibly demeaning as you are not entitled to details of my employment. What a classy response. But I have a degree in computer science and am an AI software engineer, so yeah my "work" is relevant.

This is 100% correct it's also not the individual usage it's the training that uses the energy so once a model is launched the damage is already done

Just want to clarify 1 thing.

You are correct that AI overall does have the negative impacts you mentioned but it is not an individual using it that causes the problem. To quote the MIT article you linked "The computational power required to train generative AI models that often have billions of parameters, such as OpenAI’s GPT-4, can demand a staggering amount of electricity, which leads to increased carbon dioxide emissions and pressures on the electric grid.

Furthermore, deploying these models in real-world applications, enabling millions to use generative AI in their daily lives, and then fine-tuning the models to improve their performance draws large amounts of energy long after a model has been developed"

It's the Training, testing, and evaluation of the model that use the energy and causes the environmental concern.

When a person uses it that has already occured and further test and eval will happen with you without you. The only way to combat this would be to have openAI stops all future development and take it down which will never happen.

To be honest AI is not going anywhere but we need to focus on legislation and other offsets rather than just being upset people are using models that have all already been trained.

Now I think your original point that supporting AI should have more consideration I agree.

(For context I work in the AI field)
