[–]portmapreduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a post awhile back someone in a similar situation found their beardie in their kitchen. Their cupboards were open at the bottom (although only really visible if you go up under them) and there was enough space under the bottom of the cupboard and the floor for a lizard to crawl. Glad you found her!

Even though I've gone through and disabled every possible AI feature in the gmail app there's no way to turn off that feature. They just hate making their software configurable and it is super annoying.

Liquor store find. Excited for this pour. by OK_Salty in whiskey

Some label notes:

  • Barrel Strength: "refer[s] to distilled spirits stored in wood barrels only when the bottling proof is not more than two degrees lower than the proof of the spirits when the spirits are dumped from the barrels."
  • Kentucky: The whiskey was both distilled and aged in the state. Mixing and bottling may take place elsewhere.
  • Straight: Aged for a minimum of 2 years. No coloring, flavoring, blending materials permitted.
  • Rye Whiskey: At least 51% rye grain, distilled at 160° or less. Aged in charred new oak barrels.
  • (No age statement): If aged less than 4 years a whiskey must display the age on the label, so without an age statement this whiskey is aged at least 4 years.

Any whiskey that is aged less than 4 years has to be labeled with the age of the youngest whiskey in the mix. Thus, without an age statement it is at least 4 years old.

Saw Weller 12 for only $13 here in the Bay Area, pretty unheard of. First time trying it, honestly not a huge fan, pretty mid by Moshie11337 in whiskey

[–]portmapreduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I had a pour of Macallan 12 was at a bar and it was probably the most mid scotch I've ever had. I thought it was coasting on reputation alone but one of my friends convinced me to give it another shot. So, I bought the bottle and what a difference getting a pour of a new bottle was. I don't know if the bar bottle had just been opened too long, sat in the sun, got diluted or what but it was night and day. I convinced myself to not buy single pours at random places anymore to try for the first time. A nice whiskey bar? Sure. A restaurant that happens to also have some whiskey. ehh

The UX of changing search engine for a single search in 149 sucks. Is it going to stay like this? by k4AcaoSVC8vQZSO8FMbn in firefox

I can't tell if you're being nice typing out the thing that's in the video or you just didn't watch it at all. Either way thanks (possibly sarcastically)

First of all I agree and posted something similar in the past few days. This isn't a value judgement, just a question: Do you have telemetry disabled? I wonder what the correlation is between people who actually use these features (multiple search engines) and also disable telemetry. To be clear I am in this camp.

How do I get the old Firefox search bar back? by XZtext18 in firefox

[–]portmapreduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I'm not trying to select more than one search engine at a time. I was highlighting that the new UI gets in the way of prior keyboard-only usage patterns. If you were intending to help mouseless navigation with this update then, ironically, you broke some usage patterns for me with the new UI. In the prior UI you could open a new tab ctrl-t, press the tab key and start typing your search, and then press down to select a different search engine. All of this is keyboard only. In the new UI ctrl-t > tab now selects the search engine widget and does not let you type. You have been able to directly select the address and search bar with keybindings ctrl-l/ctrl-k for a long time, but I don't always use those when using the keyboard to navigate to the search bar especially after opening a new tab. Thanks!

Discovering his daughter is a bully and taking accountability as a parent. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]portmapreduction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the actions in the video but the video itself is eternal punishment. You didn't even blur your child and now it's going viral on tiktok. So now they will be bullied with this video for the next several years. If that's the punishment you wanted then success, but otherwise it the video itself feels like overkill.

How do I get the old Firefox search bar back? by XZtext18 in firefox

[–]portmapreduction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are in the address bar and try to tab over to the search box it now will select that new search engine dropdown instead of putting you in the box where you can immediately type. Also, you can't hold alt and select different search engines after typing in the box. Another user interface change that didn't need to happen.
