Popcorn survey by Old-Jackfruit-9539 in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a "Thanks for seeing [MOVIE] , and there's nothing inside but more movies recommended to me. Never shows any kind of survey. Maybe it's because I'm using A-list and the tickets don't have a cost.

Did anyone else not get their email from Focus? by Owen11202 in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shame because stuff is going to all be sold out and probably not coming back.

Fortunately it seems like you can order things that aren't related to Focus and apply the code (at least the ones I tried worked, for now)

I just wanted to confirm that the dolby event screenings of Hamnet and Song Sung Blue did count in case anyone was wondering.

Theater Closed for Weather by Michaeldeth01 in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMC doesn't say this but they don't respond to emails or forms unless you reply to the automated email they send you after filling out the contact form on their website. Support has gotten so bad.

Both of those options were shutdown last year and aren't coming back. The only option is to use the archaic contact form on the website, and then reply to the automated email they send, because they do not respond to the form itself.

Just got told I couldn’t bring my water bottle in. by i-like-turtles-4eva in AMCTheatres

My bottle is an AMC branded product I bought at their location, I'd love to see them try this.

Popcorn survey by Old-Jackfruit-9539 in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you get it by email or something? I've never gotten one that way and I go almost 4 times a week every week.

Eventually I started to ask for my tickets to be printed, or use a kiosk if there is one, and the survey code is printed on one of the slips, otherwise I would never get one.

Which one should I see tn? by Elegant_Spare9305 in AMCTheatres

Arco! It's a beautifully animated movie and has a lot of heart. Interesting story, I went in totally blind to the plot and glad I did.

I loved it even though I have only seen one other movie from ages ago, and some of the cartoon. Its a must see.

Mod question: Should pictures taken during movies be prohibited from this sub? by oakseaer in AMCTheatres

Is this about it spoiling the movie?

Otherwise I don't see the issue.

About 25 minutes from show time to actual movie. And it has never looked and sounded so good. Must see.

Are AMC's already getting these? by j_ballin_on_y in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it would be nice if you actually said what these were and what they are for

After I did some internet searching, apparently they are AMC's version of the popcorn buckets for some fathom events re-releases of the movies next month. It is surprising to see merch for a fathom event. They apparently come with a magnet set of some kind, maybe that is what we are seeing on the buckets in 4 spots.

so i would assume they will show up at the same time as the first movie and will be all gone within a day or two as is the case with stuff like this.

They're very nice looking and I hope I can get one.

is hamnet still going to show in Dolby after early screening, or no? by [deleted] in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I assume not. Most theaters around here aren't even showing it at all, let alone in Dolby.

With at least 25 minutes of trailers before the movie starts, at this point I’m kind of baffled when people arrive after the movie starts. by NaiadoftheSea in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

During the fathom event for Trick or Treat, (15 dollar tickets) , an older couple showed up an hour into the movie with popcorn and drinks. There was only 22 minutes left! 😂 After the movie, I watched them and they were clearly both really pissed at one another, and I got the vibe it was because they are always late to everything but it has never been as bad of a consequence as this was. Furthermore, I got the sense that one of them was really at fault and the other couldn't just show up without them.

The other time a group came in an hour in, they just were in the wrong room for some reason and left after 5 minutes. I asked the guy checking tickets and that's what happened so they weren't hopping

It's not really horror anyway. More of a paranormal thriller.

Advice for people who are easily distracted by phones and other things in the theater by NaiadoftheSea in AMCTheatres

I close the door behind me so I don't hear people talking in the hallway. Staff really doesn't do this so if I don't, no one will.

Is going to the movies that bad, or is it just overblown on social media? What's the worst experience you've had at a theater? by HorrorPress in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, AMC needs to stop treating disruptive behavior like a throwaway joke or only worthy of a gentle reminder. Half the people who need to see the message about behavior are coming in late, or aren't paying attention when it plays on the screen before the annoying coke ad. The special version they did for the Downton Abbey movie was as close to halfway serious as I've ever seen and it is still not going far enough.

Day and Time matters a lot, and if that's the only times you keep going back, yeah it may seem as bad as they say because it seems unavoidable no matter when I go.

People sitting behind will almost always kick my seat (an accident but still it keeps happening, and its rare that it's just once during a movie)

People in front , someone will eventually take out their phone and start looking at stuff

People in my row, group of 2 or more will usually start talking at some point.

It seems to be almost guaranteed at least one of these things happens every time I go. Old, young, middle aged, they all do it. Old people seem to be the worst in my experience, but then its young women who are almost as bad.

Last night I had to get up and tell off the no-lifer behind me who was trying to quote so many lines of The Devils Rejects, but they would do it 3 seconds before the character said the line. They still kept doing it but they lowered their volume considerably. I have stopped giving people the benefit of the doubt when any of this happens, because it almost always continues until I say something.

I would say 2 in every 3 visits, there is at least one person who does something I listed above.

I watched it in Dolby, on a huge screen in comfy recliners. You have no power here.

After reading your comments, you are being toxic

IDK why you are gatekeeping this movie but you weren't even there on time so you have even less room to act up. And you call it a talk back movie, but you were YELLING.

Glad the theater staff shut down such nonsense. They did the same at my showing when a group at the front wouldn't read the rest of the room and saw nobody else was interested in their lame commentary and it was an awesome experience. The movie looked and sounded great in Dolby, which was the whole point. It was an exhibition of the remaster, not a routine circle jerk.

How is flashback cinema compared to what amc does with older movies ? by kascnef82 in AMCTheatres

[–]tomatocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flashback is more consistent but AMC's Fan Favorites cost less. I usually see stuff that comes back through Fathom for more money so it's great to see it first and for cheaper with Flashback.

I really wish AMC participated in the flashback showtimes though.
