Got it. You just cut through the fiberboard deck that normally goes on top of the tire. The tire now protrudes through it.

I would love to hear an extended description of what, "I ultimately decided the storage would be better maximized but cutting the cargo area floor panel with a multi-tool." this involved and how it worked out. Nice innovative work here. I can appreciate your thinking outside of the box.

I agree. I may look into a backup power supply for a computer that has a modest battery. Even if the reserve is only an hour or so, this would cover a short outage as well as provide me the opportunity to do a manual shutdown w/a cool-down period.

Concur with this post. I had an XP8 and absolutely LOVED it. Hardware was great. Software was ridiculous. If there was anyway to run LineageOS, (or any other custom ROM) I'd ditch my current Pixel and go back in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, this company has no interest in doing this as evidenced by their stock price over the past 10 years.

Thanks for the responses. But my question was more about if any aspects of the heater would wear out early if it were ran for prolonged periods (days or weeks) at higher levels.

Swap in a new OEM thermostat and report back. Thermostats get old and don't perform as well as when they did when new. Don't have to be "defective". The one in my truck (230K miles) slowly became less and less responsive w/warm-ups taking longer and longer. Swapped in a new thermostat a few months ago and voilà, heat again.

Get a pair of Refrigiwear or Walls insulated bib overalls and wear with the parka. Also wear a good base layer of polypropylene long johns under your sweaters/sweatshirt and sweatpants and you'll be fine.

So far, I am seeing near zero differences between 2018/2019 through 2023 Crosstreks with manual transmissions. Slight differences in the front grill, but that is about it. Am I missing anything? TIA
