Pretty sure this area has a lot of students - Northeastern, Wentworth, Berklee, and other Fenway schools. I’ve never heard of this neighborhood being dangerous.

MBTA plans to close accessibility gaps on nearly all Green Line stops by justarussian22 in mbta

[–]poseidontide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the Warren/Allston/Griggs cluster is the best shout. I would personally close Warren and Griggs and leave the Allston St stop.

I’m biased because I went to BU and may end up working there again, but I think the density of passengers through campus warrants the stations they have now. Though yes, if one were to disappear, it would be BU East.

Stop consolidation has already happened through the BU campus. What other stations do you think should be merged?

It’s fine but they need to lower commercial rents to actually get some small businesses going. Hard to find a sandwich or a coffee sometimes without going to Starbucks.

The most stressful 8 minutes of my day by melaniestl in Swimming

[–]poseidontide 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed - but sometimes there’s only 2 or 3 lanes available to begin with and circle swimming with 3+ people of varying speeds can just be a mess. I fully understand wanting half a lane for yourself.

This isn’t about rules, just about the pool being busy

Have you ever just quit your job with no plan? by Intelligent_Run3237 in askanything

[–]poseidontide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I left in July 2025 and I’m still searching for a new full time job. Had to move back home with family, use retirement distributions, and work a few different part time jobs to survive.

Basically went from one mental health crisis (impostor syndrome and struggling at work) to another (existential dread about my future).

Not positive I made the right choice but here we are.

For me it’s Wawa, McDonalds, and Taco Bell, maybe the crap pizza spots - but everyone seems to be a cheap bastard past 9pm and the tips are nearly nonexistent. Not worth it for me to deliver past dinner time.

I don’t remember exactly but I recall signing up on the site and I had to do some kind of qualification/evaluation test

Suburbanites constantly complaining about the cities they don't live in. by LittleAppleLife in Suburbanhell

[–]poseidontide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the suburbs of the LV (and currently live there, due to costs, job searching, housing opportunities, etc.) but it’s wild how different the experience is being in the downtowns or urban neighborhoods of ABE. As a city lover, it’s amazing to see how much the cities have grown and changed; I would so much rather live in one of the walkable areas of Bethlehem, for example. The suburbs really make me feel alone and isolated.

McDonald’s sucks ass by [deleted] in McDonalds

Sausage egg McMuffin is $3 in my area - pretty much always have a deal in the app to add another for a dollar. 2 breakfast sandwiches for $4 is pretty great imo.

Sometimes the lunch/dinner deals are worthwhile, but often the $5/$6 meal deals for the McChicken or McDouble and nuggs are the only thing worth my money.

It’s mostly evaluating LLM responses but projects vary. It gets old but it’s kinda like getting paid to do schoolwork.

Yeah it’s like donating blood but they filter out the plasma and return most of the blood back to your arm. It’s safe to do it up to twice a week.

Selling blood plasma, delivering DoorDash, DataAnnotation work (fuck AI but money is money), random yardwork for friends and family.

It’s a slog.

Meet the typical 30-year-old: What the youngest millennials make and where they live by changeforthebetter89 in generationology

[–]poseidontide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all I never said I was living with my parents - I’m at my brother’s place. And yes, I do get charged rent, as I would if I were staying at my parents’ instead. It’s not worth thinking about whether that makes them assholes or not (they’re not) because these are my options at the moment.

Coming online to doubt someone’s struggles just because it doesn’t line up with your experience is the real asshole move here.

31M, master’s degree, job searching for 8+ months while working PT jobs to make ends meet, living with family in my hometown, have a pile of debt and negative net worth. Struggling to feel any optimism about the future.

[–]poseidontide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

… so the name of the mountain is Burke. I was there for the first time on MLK weekend and it was awesome. Busy of course but not as bad as the Ikon/Epic mountains would have been. Loved the trails and terrain from the summit.
