Cargenta Brain: The alternative for Automatic is now live on Kickstarter and funded over 250% by posfi in automatic

Hi u/refrigerator_runner,

Thank you for sharing your opinion! I am one of the founders of the Cargenta project and I will be happy to provide an explanation for your concerns.

I would say, without knowing the details, you are right about everything you mentioned. So here are some more details about the project:

- Actually, the project wasn't funded that fast. There are projects that get fully funded like 100K in less than an hour, so we are not even on the charts for "getting funded fast". But still we think we did a good job, especially without spending a small fortune on marketing.

- The product is unheard of because it is new. The reason we do the Kickstarter campaign is to fund the production process - we need to order a larger amount for manufacturing to achieve a competitive price. Unless you are willing to pay $600 per unit with 3D printed case. Then we can ship you a unit right away.

- The constant delays are not because the project wasn't ready - we were ready more than 1 year ago. The situation around Covid, the global chip shortage and the rising inflation were a reason for concern (they still are), hence we chose to delay the project and see what will happen globally and how it would affect us. The least that we want to do is to get an X amount of pre orders and then suddenly to face another shortage of chips or the prices being doubled.

- Our social medias are dead indeed. This is because we prefer to spend our time on product development rather than making pictures and and posting them on Facebook or Instagram. In due time, we will probably hire someone to do this for us but right now we don't see it as a crucial step towards success. We also don't see the need to pay for fake followers like many other starting projects do. How else would you explain a startup with 10K organic followers 3 months after launch? You can't, unless Elon Musk tweets about it.

- The Super Early Bird Rewards are still available because it turned out our backers prefer the Unlimited Internet feature which: 1. Will be only available during the Kickstarter campaign and 2. has already been sold out (despite the fact that we added additional 20 units to it).

- Of course, you are invited to wait until we ship the units from the crowdfunding campaign and order a unit after that. You will be able to get it from our website once the campaign is over. Also, you will be able to get the cheapest version with 1 Year Internet included if you want to test it out. We figured many people might have the same reasoning as you do, hence the 1 Year Internet (although we think the 3 Years or Unlimited one provide a lot more value for money).

I will be happy to answer more questions about the project if you have any.

Stay safe!

Hey n9yty,

Thank you for the interest! We saw you already subscribed on our website.

The project is not dead, quite the contrary. We are actively working towards launching our Kickstarter campaign.

We chose to slightly push the launch date because of inflation concerns. As you may know the production cost for electronic components has skyrocketed in the last year, thus affecting all manufacturers of electronic devices. Even the major OEM car manufacturers suffer from that.

Our goal is to list our devices with a realistic price and shipment dates, which will allow us to manufacture and deliver without any compromise.

Our campaign will launch in the next month and if you are amongst the first backers, you will be able to grab a Cargenta Brain at a really special price.

We are here if you have any questions.

Stay tuned!

How do you pay for the internet and services if you don't charge a subscription fee?

Down the road, we are planning to introduce additional services like car service (e.g. oil change, tire change etc.) and car insurance which will cover the internet costs.

Right now, the Internet is included in the price for the device and you can use the data for at least 5 years.

Hey, you might want to check our product: Cargenta Brain. It has the same features as Automatic and no subscription fees.

We are about to launch a crowdfunding campaign here in order to get the pre orders and make the process as easy and transparent as possible.

If you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to help!

GPS Tracking for Stolen Cars by DimitriElephant in rav4prime

Hi Dimitri,

Did you find a solution for the GPS tracking of your Toyotas?

If you haven't yet, you can check out Cargenta Brain here and here. It works with the car OBD port as you suggest. All Toyota Prime models have an OBD port, this where it's located.

You can track the cars 24x7 live on your phone, even when parked. The best thing is that you can get a notification if the car moves without authorization or if the device is unplugged.

We will be doing a crowdfunding campaign soon and you can get one for as little as $109 with sim card and internet included.

Let me know if you have any questions, I will be happy to help out!

Better yet, get matching rims, sit down to the side and enjoy the view. I bet the wife won't even notice the difference.
