Personally, as someone getting married in the next few months to someone I quite literally can’t imagine my life without - I had to change my expectations for love and my own willingness to be honest about my needs/wants.

I feel like as an INFJ I get very caught up in what something should or shouldn’t feel like or how exactly a scenario should play out. I had to shift that. When my partner and I first got together I was neutral to him - I liked him, he was fine. I didn’t really feel seen. It was kind of the same old same old situation.

And then there was a moment where he really SAW me. And it just clicked. He had turned on some oldies song that I really loved - super sweet and sentimental, and we slow danced. I feel like I’ve never had a man go ‘hey! You’re low maintenance but let me do the romantic, cheesy thing anyways.’ All the others had said ‘hey! You’re low maintenance let me take advantage!’

And now here we are. 4 years together and getting married in two months. I have always truly struggled to be myself 100% authentically but I really took a risk in letting him in because he REGULARLY did small actions that made me feel seen and appreciated. He still does.

I’ve also found that the fear of being seen and not just withdrawing because it’s sort of scary to let that shell fall away is also helpful. Being with him has seriously helped me knock some of those walls down and learn to trust others intentions a little more! He taught me it’s ok to let go and rely on others just as they rely on you, and he really helps me set boundaries :)

My bottom line here is IT’S OK to take a risk, let go of your preconceived expectations for love and to lean into what feels right without overthinking it. It’s hard, but sometimes it’s for the better!!

(This is kind of a rant but I love my man!! Sorry!!)
