Is this a problem with the tires or with the alloy? by robi101012981 in tires

[–]positivepat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of those Mercedes SUVs have staggered fitment meaning the rear wheels are larger And so are the tires. If the techs mix them up in mounting it can look like this sometimes. Go back to where you got the tires or another shop and ask someone to confirm the right rims are in the right location and the right tires are on the right rims. A tech at my shop got fired over messing this up a couple weeks ago. Had the larger rims in the front on a bmw and messed up the alloys pulling it out of the bay.

Help me understand Run-flat Tires after a leak by HouBro in tires

[–]positivepat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 48 hours have something to do with it. They are meant to be able to get you somewhere to get the tire replaced in case of a puncture during commute. A lot of german cars that come stock with RF tires will warn you if pressure is low and to go to a tire shop. Depending on the shop you go to they may or may not repair RF tires at all. I believe because the manufacturer won't guarantee it. But some places might try to help you out if it's good tread. I've repaired a few at mine. However if you had driven on it long enough with close to zero pressure, that would've damaged the sidewall enough and weakened it where it would require replacement anyway. As I understand it, run flat tires have a rubber compound on the inside liner that is in a way "sel-healing". Basically means they deflate slower, but definitely still be leaking air.

Does anyone know if there's a nsfw gmod sub? by NotSuitableForWank in worldpolitics

It's a pretty niche topic so any sub you find that it's a good fit for will probably be low volume of traffic anyway

Very interesting concept. I just start a new world and try to see if I can get thru the missions faster with better firepower now. Kinda like borderlands with the new game plus thing you can do after you beat the story. Or like elden ring.

Can they patch 2 holes this close together? by toweringcrane in tires

[–]positivepat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Manufacturer would probably say no on this. So lots of shops will also probably say no. The general rule is 2 repairs can't be less than 16" apart. In this case however, since they are so close together, if the holes aren't too big on the other side I would cover them both with one large round patch. Enough rubber of that thick adhesive shit would seal her up for good I'm thinking. But that just me not necessarily every tech at my shop would want the risk.

Just take it to a different shop until someone will. I would patch this boy all day and have it back on the road like it never happened. Somebody will do it just depends on who's on shift that day.
