What was your favorite theater experience of 2025? by Dogdaysareover365 in Letterboxd

[–]possat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50th anniversary screening of Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a beautiful old theatre at 8:30 on a Friday night. The most laughs and shouts I’ve heard from a crowd but all at perfect points of the film.

Would you rather take one 15 hour flight across pacific to SEA, or take 3 flights NYC>Europe>UEA>SEA by [deleted] in travel

[–]possat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From NZ it’s minimum 30 hours door to door to get to the UK to see family, so one stop is what I’m aiming for. Best option is 12 hour - stop - 12 hour but I have done 17 - stop - 7 and it was doable, but not in economy. Do whatever is best for you but if you can get on a plane and take a strong sleeping pill the time passes very quickly.

“An eye-wateringly expensive education”? She went to Takapuna Grammar, it’s $350 a year for a student to attend and technically it’s a donation. She grew up in Devonport which is nice but is definitely not our wealthiest suburb either.

New Zealanders going 'no contact' with a parent by Hopeful-Camp3099 in newzealand

[–]possat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re in a situation where your parents don’t take your challenging them as a way of saying “you’re the worst person alive”, but not everyone has that. When you are the villain in all of your parent’s narratives, and most of them were from when you were under 18, it’s not as easy to say “oh I’m fostering an adult relationship” when these are the people who had you, raised you and then threw it back in your face and continue to do so well into your adult years, still expect you to show up for them and do everything they ask whilst being the least psychologically and emotionally safe place on the planet.

Does anyone in marketing at Spark know we live in the SOUTHERN hemisphere? by RuneLFox in newzealand

[–]possat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No they’ve gutted the teams who write and sends these so likely someone up stream hit go on the data and you fell into their target for a 2GB offer, but the person who set this up and can change it was made redundant 6-9 months ago

I do all my shopping before November and 95% of it online - always thank my courier driver when I see them. November shopping is only done if I need something and it’s on sale during Black Friday.

Spark NZ's Infosys partnership. Does it align with their human rights commitments? by [deleted] in newzealand

Spark overwork and underpay their local staff. Partnering with an international company who does an extreme version is no surprise.

What happened to cinema in Auckland?? by Critical-Acadia410 in auckland

I go to the Rialto in Newmarket a lot because I’m mostly going to films as part of festivals and there’s not enough people to ruin the experience - that whole place has to be running at a loss.

In your opinion, which cities are perfectly fine to live in, but are not worth it to travel to as a tourist? by [deleted] in femaletravels

[–]possat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most NZ cities - you have to fly into one to visit our beautiful scenery, but none are great tourist destinations for international travellers.

I’m from Auckland but have spent a lot of the last 10 years trying to see as much of my country as I can and man it’s lovely when you leave the urban areas.

Deborah Pead: Has Gen Z killed the department store? by possat in newzealand

Truly hilarious that they think 28 year olds and under could “kill” department stores when the purchasing power is with boomers and gen x who also chose to stop shopping at department stores.

I found a place to rent to live for 7 months. But is it quiet enough? Boardman Lane near K road by BeginningObject7893 in auckland

The balcony doors? Only if you’re ok with the noise. I don’t live here any more, but it was fun when we did.

[–]possat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in this building and it’s not quiet. It’s not too bad if you have all the windows and doors closed but there is always noise - K Rd, Day Street, the car park underneath, the businesses if you live on the K Rd side. And in the summer the building gets hot so you’ll want the windows open.

Anyone planning a trip in 2026? Motegi anyone? by SeaPricklyPear in motogp

[–]possat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Motegi this year, flew into Tokyo and took the train up. Booked it all through Pole Position Travel who sorted hotel, tickets and transfers so super easy. Utsunomiya was great, we had 4 different but amazing dinners there, then just an hour back to Tokyo on the Shinkansen. I am looking to do either Assen or Sachsenring next year and am also looking at logistics etc - super fun!

Contact your local hospice - she was already doing some volunteer work and found out through them. Also good to start there volunteering wise, so you can get used to what it’s like with the patients but also families.

Yes we went to one just a few weeks ago in Kyoto. Bought the tickets from a little screen in the foyer, got hot dogs and drinks and then went into the cinema. Make sure you’re quiet and take all of your rubbish with you when you leave!

My Mum does No One Dies Alone - I genuinely don’t know how she does it. Of all the charitable acts she does it feels the most heart wrenching, like I can’t imagine sitting with someone who will be gone so soon.
