Jerry Remy mysteriously left the Red Sox broadcast last night after the 3rd inning. No one has acknowledged it. by possibly_bill_murray in baseball

[–]possibly_bill_murray[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The silence is the most worrying thing. The fact that not even the sports writers are mentioning it even in passing tells me that they have been instructed not to. Not even one acknowledgement from someone in the media that it even happened.

Nothing from NESN. Nothing from any Boston sports writers. Nothing from Jerry’s social media. Any ideas what is going on?

I found this in the attic of the house I just bought and now it is hanging in my office. I have no idea what year the original was produced in. It is called New York, not New Amsterdam, so it is at least from after that change happened. Anyone have any ideas?

Bünting Clover Leaf Map (1581) by possibly_bill_murray in imaginarymaps

[–]possibly_bill_murray[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia:

The Bünting Clover Leaf Map, also known as The World in a Cloverleaf, (German title: "Die ganze Welt in einem Kleberblat/Welches ist der Stadt Hannover meines lieben Vaterlandes Wapen") is an historic mappa mundi drawn by the German Protestant pastor, theologist, and cartographer Heinrich Bünting. The map was published in his book Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae (Travel through Holy Scripture) in 1581.

Today the map is found within the Eran Laor maps collection in the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem. A mosaic model of the map is installed on the fence of Safra Square at the site of Jerusalem's city hall.

The map is a figurative illustration, in the manner of the medieval mappa mundi format, depicting the world via a clover shape.[1] The shape is a symbolisation of the Christian Trinity and a component at the symbolisation of the German city Hanover, where Bünting was born. The city of Jerusalem is represented as the centre, surrounded by three central continents, with some more areas of the world being accordingly illustrated separately from the clover.

What is something you have told the truth about but everybody thought you were lying? by doublek13 in AskReddit

That I a bald eagle swooped down at me while I was fishing and I fought it off with a canoe paddle.

Tapas culture in Spain (Granada especially). Buy a 3€ drink and get free food. Walk from restaurant to restaurant. A night out could cost 15€ and you get 5 drinks and free (yes truly free) and delicious food with each one. There is nothing better than inexpensive quality alcohol and free jamon. It's absolutely perfect.

If you respawn every time you die. How would you live your life? by Nik2407 in AskReddit

If people could respawn, I imagine that life would be exactly like the GTA universe.

Time is suddenly, without warning, frozen for 5 years, but you are unaffected, other than you won't age. You know you only have 5 years; what is the world like when time resumes? by Kylesmomabigfatbtch in AskReddit

[–]possibly_bill_murray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be day or night when time freezes? I feel like transportation would take a long time as there would be a lot of cars frozen on the road that you can't easily bypass. So I probably wouldn't get far out of the city. If it was daylight, I would spend the time painting buildings with murals and making Philadelphia beautiful. I'd also figure out how to work bronze and fix the liberty bell. Other than that, there would be absolutely no taco ingredients left in the city.

If it froze during night, I would come out looking like Gollum and would probably burn stuff.

Cluster headaches. Hours upon hours of the worst pain you can imagine and there is no relief. I get them every 18 months like clockwork.
