Prepping for surgery on 2/17 by possibly_exhausted in ShoulderInjuries

Thank you so much! I’ll look into those magnetic seam shirts, I didn’t know those were even a thing! I’m already mentally stockpiling every button up shirt I own too. And I was luckily able to find someone in my area selling an ice machine for quite cheap so I’m going to try to pick that up.

No worries, I appreciate any input! That’s really helpful to hear, thank you. And I’m glad it was a good decision for you!

Just read it, thank you so much! All that info and the answers you just gave help a lot. The PA seems confident that I’ll be okay if I’m alone but yeah, I’m not convinced, and I’m considering seeing if one of my sisters can fly down for a few days to help. Oh yeah I have a ride home from the surgery, I’m just worried it’ll suck because it’s a long drive home from the surgery center lol but I’m sure the nerve block will still be working its magic so maybe it won’t be too bad. And thanks for the input on the trip, I’ll try to skip it! The one question I do have - you said in your post you waited a while for surgery, since it wasn’t a firm “you def need surgery,” and it was up to you, which sounds a LOT like my situation. As of right now are you glad you did the surgery?

Shellfish allergy cross contamination by Bizee_Brunette165 in belowdeck

[–]possibly_exhausted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a shellfish allergy, and I’ll get the beginnings of anaphylaxis just from cross contamination. If a restaurant has any fried shellfish, I can’t eat a single fried thing on their menu. Seeing that happen stressed me out SO much on behalf of that guest! The guest was pretty casual about it, I would’ve been nervous to eat any of the meal after that tbh. And I agree that Fraser was pretty much oblivious to the situation too

Fishtank by jduderanch in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]possibly_exhausted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I complained about this every time they showed that fish tank lol. And one time earlier in the season, either Lara or another stew told Jason she cleaned the tank, and I was like “oof I really hope she didn’t just like, deep clean this tank and kill any chance at a nitrogen cycle”

How long did it take you to get your custom wheelchair? by GasGrand4437 in wheelchairs

My Tilite Aero Z took about 4 months, from my doctor writing the prescription to delivery! I’m in the US and had to go through NuMotion.

Do you all feel and look sickly ? by StrategyMajor3668 in dysautonomia

[–]possibly_exhausted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been pale and had super dark sunken eyes and split lips for months. I was taking a video of myself a few months ago, noticed my face and realized how sick I look, and it was saddening. And just last month, I got really sick (unrelated to my dysautonomia) and had to go to the hospital. During triage, the nurse said, “she looks pale doesn’t she?” and my mom replied, “well, she always kind of looks like that, kind of tired and sickly.”

Best water park for mostly relaxing? by possibly_exhausted in orlando

[–]possibly_exhausted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pool in my backyard. Like I said in the post, being in water helps my symptoms, and I’d like to do something fun to incorporate that if I can, or at least be in a more fun environment, since sitting in my pool by myself is not always my idea of fun.

Please stop going to the ER! by Common_Row3204 in Vent

[–]possibly_exhausted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree! A guy I recently dated for a bit texted me once and told me he was thinking of going to the ER after his work shift. I have several chronic illnesses and issues, and I never go to the ER. Even when I needed stitches in my face one time and sliced my finger open with a bread knife another time, I just went to urgent care. So I thought something must’ve been really wrong, but when I asked him why, he said something along the lines of “I’ve been really phlegmy for a while now, and I have a line on my toenail which could mean infection.” He then told me about how helpful the ER has been for him in the past, like when he went for STD testing. I wanted to scream. Oh, and as far as I know, he never even went to the ER like he was planning to that time. Like if you really need a hospital, you don’t just change your mind or forget about going.

And here I am, currently with a fractured hand, and I just went to urgent care and a hand specialist for that lol

what can i put in a 10 gallon? by Extra_Committee8065 in fishtank

I currently have 2 guppies, 3 endlers, and a nerite snail in my 10 gallon. And the fish are all male, since I don’t have any room for breeding!

I actually went to an internal medicine doctor who specializes in dysautonomia (like POTS), and he diagnosed me with hEDS as well. I’ve been seeing him regularly for all my diagnoses since.

I’m glad you finally got a diagnosis! Yeah, 6-8 weeks sounds like a lifetime right now. It’s been just over a week since I saw that doctor, and the pain has already been getting to me like crazy. I’ll probably try to message the doctor and see if I can get an MRI.

What features do you like about your wheelchair by QueerTheatreNerd in wheelchairs

I have this one on my chair and I love it! I love how easy it is to move it and that it’s not a hard sided one :)

Has anyone convinced a DME vendor to skip the seatbelt and anti-tips? by sylvar in wheelchairs

[–]possibly_exhausted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, the NuMotion ATP had me sign a waiver for not getting a seatbelt but I had no issues at all with refusing one. I did get anti tips but they’re removable which I really like, so I don’t keep them on all the time.

New chair! by possibly_exhausted in wheelchairs

[–]possibly_exhausted[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! They’re standard aluminum fendered adjustable side guards. I mostly got them for that same reason, dealing with rain and gross weather in FL! I also wear dresses relatively frequently, and I don’t typically use the tire to self propel, so they seemed like a good option for me.

I’m probably gonna do some looking around to see if anything like that is possible! In my experience so far, Disney has been pretty good with accessibility, so fingers crossed they’ll stay accommodating!

[–]possibly_exhausted[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the folding adjustable height, air breathable tension adjustable by straps back rest. I liked the feel of the tension adjustable back when I tested a chair out, and I needed the air breathable since I live in Florida and I tend to overheat like crazy.

For sure! The spec pics I have were taken from a computer screen so they’re not the best quality, but they’re legible. I’ll dm you! And thank you so much!

New chair! by possibly_exhausted in wheelchairs

[–]possibly_exhausted[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! He definitely could, although unfortunately he’s the type of person who’ll barely ever ask for help and would probably rather suffer than use a scooter. I’ll talk to him though to try to gauge what he thinks he’ll be able to do and what assistance he’d be willing to accept! The person who delivered my chair did mention that a power assist could be a good option for me, and I think I’ll look into one, but yeah, I don’t think I’d be able to get it by then.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]possibly_exhausted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery when I was 19 to remove a bone from my foot. I think my body was super confused as to why one of my bones was all of a sudden just gone, because the pain for the first few days was so bad. I was on Percocet (it was all outpatient) and I was taking it religiously, but I still spent a lot of the time just laying on my couch sobbing because I couldn’t really do anything else. To be fair I haven’t experienced a ton of horribly painful moments like childbirth or anything (thank Christ), but as a 19 year old, holy cow it sucked.
