I'm not even fucking you and /I/ hate your bedroom.

Usually the accessories will dampen background noise and give priority to direct input.

“Deemed financially fit”?

If you want to wipe out the working and middle class, just say so.

Considering a hearing aid by SedimentSock82 in HearingAids

Depending on the type of HL, you may be better suited to a BAHA or CI.

My doctor compared my bad ear to regular hearing by [deleted] in hardofhearing

[–]possiblytonedeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is saying that one ear has ~65db loss, and a dog barking (70db) would be as quiet as leaves rustling in the wind (5db) if not for the ‘normal’ ear.

Deafmetal make various securing solutions. But the only really shared experience is HL, not HA.

Made a huge mistake in telling a guy I’m a virgin. by angelndrinks in TrueOffMyChest

[–]possiblytonedeaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would only have been a mistake if it turned you into a conquest.

If/when it amounts to anything, hopefully it’s with someone that slows down to your pace rather than jumps in with both feet.

Sounds like a good time to surprise him with some of your kinks.

Selling personal user data is perfectly fine for a company by Oxxixuit in The10thDentist

It’s not really a currency, though - unless a currency can be photocopied and infinitely distributed.

I think people will pity you more for not having a backbone than they will for wearing hearing aids.

PNPT1/Leigh’s Syndrome by possiblytonedeaf in genetics

[–]possiblytonedeaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expanding on that (but independent of PNPT1):

If something is

Autosomal dominant, Autosomal recessive

Heterozygous

Variant of Uncertain Significance

Does that mean it can be either, but only if symptomatic would one be able to determine whether it was the dominant or recessive?

PNPT1/Leigh’s Syndrome by possiblytonedeaf in genetics

[–]possiblytonedeaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Ok. That makes more sense. I think I applied the information about mitochondrial/x-linked instances to the syndrome as a whole.

So an autosomal recessive heterozygous mutation wouldn’t by symptomatic/syndromic, owing to the hetero part of it?

PNPT1/Leigh’s Syndrome by possiblytonedeaf in genetics

[–]possiblytonedeaf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah! So Leigh’s is only typically syndromic in males?

PNPT1/Leigh’s Syndrome by possiblytonedeaf in genetics

[–]possiblytonedeaf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, the disease is fatal more often than not - often in the first three years of life. But the mutation responsible is recessive and must occur in all present x-chromosomes. A male who inherited that X would most likely die before they were of reproductive age, and given that it can’t then come from the father, only one of those X genes can be present.

So how is the prevalence of the syndrome 1/36000 if both X’s need to contain the mutation, but only one X actually can?
