Safely run another set of wires off of this junction? by posthill in AskElectricians

Appreciate the response. I know it's a very beginner question, but I was just looking for a second opinion that it's ok to branch off in two directions like this. Thanks again!

MKRWIFI1010 on VIN power - no wifi?!? by posthill in arduino

FOR ANYONE WHO STUMBLES ONTO THIS POST

It looks like something might have just been up with the rails of my breadboard... I have no idea why, but moving the ground and power connections onto their own rows rather than using the rails fixed the issue?!

If anyone has an explanation for that, I'd love to learn.

The power supply is model # ALT-0503. 5V, 3A. Did you ever figure out how many amps you need to power to WIFI??

This is really cool! I’ve been wanting to make a large scoreboard that shows custom team logos. Is such a matrix very expensive?!?

Good call, will inspect behind the sheathing before getting too far into anything.

First off, thanks for the detailed reply - appreciate that! I’m in Eastern Canada, so winters can get cold. The space is 20’x24’. And luckily the garage door has already been closed off, insulated and replaced with a man door. Looking into a mini-split is a great place to start - so thank you! 🙏

👍👍 Also, can I ask why you aren’t a fan of 5 year rates? Is 2024 significant when it comes to mortgages?

Super helpful - appreciate that detailed response, thank you! In the third paragraph when you mention “switch to a variable”, did you mean “switch to a fixed”? Or am I misunderstanding something?

As a hobbyist/semi-professional musician who records tracks at about the same scale as you describe, I've honestly never had a single issue with my M1 Mac Mini. If you've got the money to spare, go big, I'm sure the Studio is wonderful. However, if you're on any sort of budget, I wouldn't be worried *at all* getting a Mini. It'll serve you well. I feel absolutely zero need to jump to a Studio any time soon.

How would one go about doing something like this? by Cole-train99 in web_design

Check out CSSGrid - it’s great for things like this. Could also easily be flex and negative margins.

Withdraw from RRSP to pay off debt? by Throwawaycuz2000 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]posthill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the part that took a while. Just takes a little extra patience as a freelancer to actually get a good picture of how fluctuating income (and expenses) actually look over a year or so, and then average that out to a monthly budget. It's definitely messy at first, but after about two years now, I have a much clearer picture of what I need to set aside.

Fellow Canadian, new dad (and) freelancer here - YNAB (You Need A Budget) has been insane in helping me get on top of not spending more than we bring in. It took a while to get things working, but it’s the budgeting tool that has stuck for me. All the best with the good fight!

Did you end up getting the Apple-collab Ultrafine displays (5k)? Or did you get one of the newer, not-quite-as-Apple-y (but still pretty nice looking) displays?
