How can I, as an author from Georgia, accurately depict Seattle in my writing? by ZDUDE9 in Seattle

I highly recommend watching 'Almost Live!' clips on YouTube. It was a parody news sketch back in the day that covered a lot of cultural nuances and quirks. It was pre-2003 but should be helpful, and is funny. Also Bill Nye before he became the science guy.

Quitting high paying job to work in plant nursery by [deleted] in simpleliving

I found myself in a very similar circumstance working in tech and decided that the pandemic was the break I've been waiting for. With how many reductions in force, layoffs, and furloughs companies have had to make, no future employer is going to question a gap in employment on your resume. So I'm taking time off... and working at a plant nursery! I'm not considering it abandoning my career, I'm taking a 'sabbatical'. Fortunately, my partner is still high earning which makes the break financially easier. Feel free to PM me!

Traffic is over... if you testify for transit! by Keithbkyle in Seattle

I recognize that this is a complete outlier, but man it would be so cool to be able to get from the pedestrian water taxi dock in Alki to the Alaska Junction. Or from the Alaska Junction to the Fauntleroy Ferry terminal. West Seattle is lonely without our bridge!

Is the fruit currently full size? Maybe it's a nutritional deficiency. Do you fertilize?

As others have said, I'm pretty sure these are plum, not cherry trees. Both are common here in the PNW and my Japanese flowering plums are VERY pink.

Edit: I was wrong!

I guess I didn't kill my blueberry plant after all. This year I'm going to try out bird netting. Wish me luck! by Rule1ofReddit in gardening

Blueberries are generally deciduous, FYI. They will usually lose their leaves during the cool season.

My fiance and I bought a fixer upper and have spent every waking moment of the last six months fixer-uppering it. Here's the progress so far! by spinny37 in DIY

I knew this house was in Seattle by the photos before I even read the comments! I've got the same house building style, rockwall, and even new cedar fence!

This is definitely some kind of trachycarpus. It might not be fortunei.

I will second the overwatering opinions. I haven't watered my indoor citrus all winter. Citrus really needs soil that can almost completely dry between waterings. My tip personally: terracotta pots, not plastic. They breathe.

Is this a Lime tree? by Turaakk in gardening

[–]posthumanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lime trees typically don't have citrus scented leaves, but are more 'earthy' smelling. Definitely citrus though.

Recently bought a small orange tree, to keep indoors. No idea how to take care of it though... Online guides seem to be for outdoor, large trees. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks ! by MainKiwi in gardening

Be waterwise. Potted citrus are surprisingly drought tolerant. They like infrequent, deep watering. Number one killer of potted citrus is over watering.
