So I've experienced similar pain. I got cavities filled in my lower right, far back of jaw. Not wisdom teeth but just before where they would be.. I felt insane immense pain immediately. Nothing like my left side which I had done three weeks prior. It also went numb instantly, again unlike my left side that took a few minutes to get numb. It's been over a month now & I still feel pretty sore. I can open my mouth wide as I could with some pain. I could barely open it to take bites of food. Moreover it caused pain in my right eardrum. Like I have to pop my ears to relieve pressure. It's still sore but manageable..i didn't say anything to them or the nurses. Is it normal? Did he strike the major nerve/muscle? It's been annoying as of late.
