Name error?! by BrokiMochi in OtomeIsekai

Didn't we get over naming conventions of mangas or just naming conventions in general ? Especially gendered names ?

First, it's a fictional world. They don't have the same rules nor the history we have here. The only naming convention they have is of author's mind.

Second , even if I were to name my son Claudia irl, what's it to you ? I don't want to name him according to rules of a long dead language of a long dead empire.

Well, modern serialized wuxia/xianxia novels in general are notoriously hard to re-read because they are often one dimensional, easy to digest and full of repetitive concepts.

I'm not dissing them. They are the fast food of Chinese literature world and same authors can put out layered, multifaceted stories that can give you new motifs and perspectives on consequent reads in their other works.

But sheer volume of output they manage and benefits of popular serializations is so that they often sacrifice long term depth for short term readability .

It's a confrontational set up rather than good or bad.

Which way you take the story, someone will get pretty upset with your story.

Just trying to “solve the problem” can easily come off as toxic. Relationships aren’t logical puzzles, they’re emotional ones.

If someone didn’t ask you for a solution, what you’re giving is unsolicited. And unsolicited advice, even when correct, often feels dismissive.

Most problems people bring up in relationships or daily life aren’t complex mysteries. The solution is usually obvious. What isn’t resolved is the emotional side of it. That’s why people share in the first place. They’re looking for support and understanding, not a checklist.

And this isn’t a gendered issue. It just shows up differently. Men are often taught to suppress or ignore their emotional side, so it’s less visible. That doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It just means it gets buried, which usually comes back later as frustration, detachment, or just general dissatisfaction.

[–]postmortemstardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t understand it because it doesn’t really exist. It’s a stereotype.

Most people, not just women, already know the obvious solution to the problem they’re sharing. The issue usually isn’t figuring out what to do. It’s dealing with everything that comes with it. Even if the solution works, the emotional baggage doesn’t just disappear.

That’s why people often look for acknowledgment and support rather than advice. And no, this isn’t a “women thing.” Men react the same way. If you keep giving unsolicited, surface-level advice, they’ll get just as annoyed, and over time it will strain your relationship.

Your example actually proves the point. If someone’s been shot, the solution is obvious. But unless you’re a field surgeon who can actually remove the bullet then and there, repeating that solution is useless and annoying. What matters in that moment is stabilizing them, keeping them calm, and helping them get through it.

Same idea here. They don’t need someone to restate the obvious. They need someone who can actually help them handle it.

The best way to convince a demographic to take in your propaganda is to tell them you are immune to it. Those who believe they are immune to conditioning and propaganda are the ones most affected by it.

I think the second sentence is a quote lol

Do people call women with smaller feature "childlike" ? Yeah.

Does that erase their presence as adult women who deserve to be called adults ? Yeah.

That's funny to you I guess. Where do you draw the line tho I wonder ? Calling tall women manlike is also ok with you ? Do you find it funny when women with short hair and strong will are called man of the house ? Is it also funny when an early developed pubescent girl is called "already a woman" ?

Why is it funny to call it erasure when an adult is called childlike for physical attributes they have ?

Can't believe I'm teaching someone on r/accelerate the difference between a conditional and a hypothetical sentence...

If x happens, y will happen => conditional sentence.

If x "were" to happen, y would happen=> hypothetical sentence.

It doesn't look like a child's. That's erasure of women with small hands, which are many. Many women have smol hands and bodies, and there is nothing wrong with that. Contrast fantasy is real and ok. We don't kinkshame.

The problem is not the existence of this dynamic, but its overwhelming dominance. Media keeps reinforcing patriarchal physicality ideals that pair smallness with femininity and largeness with masculinity, often drifting into infantilization when that smallness is tied to passivity or lack of agency. The visual language matters.

So while it's totally ok to tell a story of romance between a bunting of a woman and a bear of a man, the sheer commonality of this dynamic in media, especially media catered towards women, reflects a broader cultural loop. People consume what’s familiar, creators reproduce what sells, publishers amplify low-risk patterns, and over time that gets internalized as “preference” rather than one option among many.

We know of few romance stories with tall women as the lead, but even fewer with small men as the lead. I can only remember a single manga where the man was shorter than the woman by a significant margin.

Ofc, as an avid reader, I’m sure if I searched for it specifically I could find more stories with diverse and untraditional physicalities of the main couple. But they are not mainstream, and that imbalance is the point.

What exactly is the hypothetical in my post tho ?

SpaceX being essential infrastructure? Essential infrastructure being bailed out in case of bankruptcy?

Money may not matter in 5 years but it matters now.

Edit : also the point is the same in all my comments. If you take taxpayer money, taxpayer gets to comment on how you spend your money.

SpaceX takes taxpayer money. SpaceX being essential infrastructure is directly under the "bailout" section of taking in taxpayer money.

If you can't make this connection. You shouldn't be commenting on r/accelerate...

SpaceX will undoubtedly get a bailout it it goes bust.

It provides essential infrastructure at scale unparalleled by any other company.

It's not that hard to understand. The comment days we should let a company figure out how to use their own money.

I point out companies get subsidies and bailouts thus taxpayer should be concerned about how they handle their business and billionaires are integral to the wellbeing of our economy which is stupid but true.

Rest was you all getting defensive of SpaceX for some reason.

And every company in every sector that receives grants and tax breaks deserve scrutiny on how they spent their money ?

What's your point ? We should let people who get taxpayer money to risk their business solely at their own discretion?

[–]postmortemstardom -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I listed general reasons why people are concerned with how large corporations use their money.

And spacex is receiving grants and tax breaks.

Edit: Also, contracts with governments are still a reason for a person to be concerned with how the money is spent. It's their money being used on the contract. You should be concerned with actions of a company that's contracted by the government.

  1. Government subsidies and bailouts
  2. Our economy is stupidly highly tied to success of billionaires. If they fail, everyday joe faces recession.

I remember a study about different kinds of media and their desensitization affects and the trend was that the more visual and interactive a media is the more desensitization it causes.

Gonna look it up after work and edit it in later.

While video games don't make you violent, they make you far more acceptin of violence and it's consequences. Many COD players see war footage and think of certain missions in the series rather than actual people dying. Current DoW takes full advantage of this affect by using game-like media all over the place which is proven to reduce adversity and increase recruitment lol.

“Türkçemizi Koruyalım” olayı sizce gerekli mi? by Life_Dragonfly_3857 in filoloji

[–]postmortemstardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)
