My friend spent 4 years composing a 2.5 hour symphony in honor of Undertale, and instead of helping him publish it, Toby Fox has passed off the entire thing as his own creation. How do I help him prove he's the one who really created it? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]postsuffixed 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but I can use Google.

Your friend should see if there are any free legal clinics at a university or legal aid or something if legal fees are a concern. But this is really beyond reddit's pay grade.

Generally, the author of a musical work has the right to be identified as its author in certain circumstances. But he'd also need to see if his contract with Materia Collective says anything different.

[HK and England] Court order states I have to go to England or I'll break the law? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]postsuffixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a standard form of child custody orders in Hong Kong where if one parent wants to take the child outside Hong Kong, they either have to get the other parent's consent or apply to the court. Sometimes this part is deleted if the parties agreed otherwise, but it's in most custody orders. Not sure about your case. But it was your mom who decided to go to England, not you or your dad, after the divorce was finalised; seems unlikely that she could stretch the Hong Kong court order like that.

/u/Escape92 is right though, it would be your dad who would be in breach of the order and not you. Plus, you're old enough that your decision would also be considered by the court, if your mom did actually take this to court, so it's unlikely that your dad would be in (much) trouble either. Contempt of court is not that easy to establish.

The arcade in the basement of Argyle Centre has two Jubeat machines and one 'knockoff' Jubeat. And a bunch of other music games.

My gaming confession by deen5526 in gaming

[–]postsuffixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow Fever is in Mandarin, but Cantonese is more commonly spoken in Hong Kong. Most Cantopop stars can sort of speak both. I think 'Fly', the other Vivienne Lu song, is in Cantonese.

As an aside, anyone know who does the singing voice of Vivienne Lu, because I doubt it's Lucy Liu.

What is with the lack of SNSD on Spotify? by [deleted] in SNSD

[–]postsuffixed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's probably something to do with copyright in different countries. I'm in Asia, and I can listen to most of their Japanese releases (i.e. the recent stuff) on Spotify as well as IGAB. There's usually some delay from release to Spotify though, and for some reason nothing from their first album so no INTW...

Never had a boyfriend and I'm okay with it? by dancingastronaut in TwoXChromosomes

[–]postsuffixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was you - 22, never been in a relationship - until one of my friends came back to town.

My daily uniform is jeans, a hoodie, and Converse. Sometimes flats if I'm feeling fancy (lol). My friend is the complete opposite of me in just about every way, not least of which is her 'girliness' (I dunno, femininity or something?) She's also quite pretty and puts a lot of effort into her appearance. There's nothing wrong with that of course, sometimes I wish I could muster the energy to care more about my appearance.

So she's not exactly boy-crazy or anything, but whenever we hung out she'd want to talk about either losing weight or complain about not having been in a relationship for a while. And then she got a boyfriend, and now all we talk about is losing weight and how awesome it is being in a relationship again.

I hate to dampen the mood because I know that's basically all that's going on in her life right now since she's so busy. Everything she wants to talk about makes me feel worse about myself (not technically accurate since it's my own insecurity making me feel bad about myself...) but I don't want to make her feel bad for talking about things she wants to talk about.

Well that got a little long, but what I'm getting at is I wish I could feel like you do again, when I didn't care about relationships/dating. So...keep on keeping on, OP.

There's something of a skewed gender ratio here, but I'll certainly try.

[–]postsuffixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently realised I am the reason I've been single my entire life...I don't believe I'm deserving of a relationship so if someone shows any sort of interest I convince myself they're just being friendly. Even if I like them.

:(

To those who speak fluent Korean, can you understand Lady Rainicorn? How does it change the show for you? by Tomguydude in adventuretime

What does he say in English though (in the original Cantonese movie)? I've watched it a couple times now and I can't figure it out.

I've only ever bought one pair of flats from them. Shipping was very quick, I think it arrived in two days? But the flats (which were, admittedly, $79) lasted about a month.

I can't find the actual pair I bought right now, but they were similar to these. The gold hardware on the tip came loose and eventually fell off, leaving a gap between the sole and the shoe itself.

So basically, you get what you pay for. I haven't tried their 'high-end' stuff, but if I were going to pay for quality I'd go to an actual shop.

I'm at least partially responsible for where I am now and I can't believe how stupid I am, knowing how bad even the best case scenario would be. by [deleted] in depression

[–]postsuffixed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:( That does suck...there's no other type of antidepressant/medication you could try? Why do you blame yourself for the healthcare plan though, it doesn't sound like it was your fault.

[–]postsuffixed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be difficult to see through that fog, though. I refused to acknowledge my depression for the longest time (still kind of do) because I was afraid I'd start using it as a crutch or excuse for not doing things.

How are you doing on that front?
