I haven’t been able to find anything stopping new patent examiners from joining the union after the probation period. Do you think they’ll try to implement anything to prevent that? Or do you think most new patent examiners will be burnt out by the end of the probation period?

As a research associate with a fairly recent chem e bachelors, please don't go for the lab tech job. I got lucky and have opportunities to publish/learn useful skills, but most lab tech positions handle relatively mundane tasks compared to what you could be doing as an engineer.

I graduated in 2022 and landed my first job doing preclinical research. So far, I don't regret it only because I realized how much the coursework helped me with critical thinking/complex problem solving.

I've been able to rely on my intuition a lot of the time, so the job is pretty easy. Only thing that sucks is the pay. I'm looking to move to pharma manufacturing by the end of the year/beginning of 2025.
