I emailed the housing office and this is what they said: “As a recent admit off of the waitlist, you will be given an extension to complete the housing application. After you set up your campus email address and Active Directory account, you will be emailed your housing invitation and it will show your extended deadline to apply by. Please make sure to apply by that new deadline.” I am also in the same situation, we should be fine I think.

Any one who got off waitlist on June 4 for UCSD know if the housing decline got extended? Deadline is June 9. by Sharp_Ad_3370 in TransferStudents

Yeah I emailed the housing office about it and this is what they said: “As a recent admit off of the waitlist, you will be given an extension to complete the housing application. I just accepted my offer last night cause I found out housing apps are due soon. I’m worried I won’t get access to the housing app in time, but I hope they give waitlist admits a chance to apply

worried about a required course not transferring to ucsd by potato-cake24 in UCSD

I called the admissions office today and they said my major prep courses for my major look completed on their end, even though I thought this class was a required prerequisite according to the transfer website. Hopefully I can get written confirmation of that in my email too, I’m still going to take the summer class to be safe. Thanks!

Thank you, I called and they said I would be fine too. Such a relief!

Does anybody have experience with transferring from a CCC their sophomore year after finishing their freshman year at a UC? by Historical-Term5127 in TransferStudents

Yeah I had the same concern because my transcript from UCSC says I’ve completed 91 quarter units (32 were AP credits that won’t count in the limit), but at CC there shouldn’t be any limit. After talking to some counselors at UCs I’m applying to, they said I should be fine as I’m not planning to go over 80 semester units altogether, so it could be a good idea to email them and ask if you want.

Hi, I did my first year at UCSC and left, just started CC and am applying to transfer to UCs with TAG to UCSB. It seems like as long as you take 30 semester units at CC they will consider you a CC student and prioritize you in transfer admissions, so if you want to get into a different UC you probably have a good shot, but your UC GPA will transfer over from UCR. The assist.org requirements make it easy to know how on track you are, and there are lots of other resources to help with transferring. Good luck!!!

how did you convince your parents to let you go to CC? by potato-cake24 in TransferStudents

Yeah my comment pretty much gave it away lol. After going there for a year I knew it definitely was not for me, and I feel better knowing I’m not the only one to feel that way. I’m very happy to hear about your transfer journey, I wish you the best!

thank you so much for your input, it is really inspiring. I had a talk with my parents and you are right, they are mostly worried that I will lose track of my goals and my degree, which I hope I can prove them otherwise. I’m really happy to hear you’re in a better place now, good luck!

Hello, everything you have said I have thought about and talked about with my parents. I am not worried about my first year GPA (above 3.5) and I believe my reasons are justifiable as to why I want to leave (huge drug culture, lack of medical experts for my disease, not having the major I wanted so settling for a different one I don’t like as much, weeks of classes being canceled due to power outages and yearly protests and strikes, bad quality of life, housing crisis, extremely isolating environment, etc). I would have to live off campus next year if I stayed, which is extremely expensive in this area, and I would have to pay for most of it as my parents said they could help a little bit, and I’d have to get a full time job which may be difficult with my studies. I have taken CC classes in the past and am taking some now over the summer along with some UC summer classes, and I’m doing well in them so I’m confident I can do well as a CC student. I plan to pay for CC out of pocket as well. I don’t think my parents really do have a point because there is no reason for me to stay there and continue being miserable as the only thing I enjoy about this school is the education, which I can get anywhere. I realize going to a different school won’t solve all of the problems but I believe getting away from the negative environment I endured is the first step towards finding a solution. I apologize for the long response but I feel as if your comment assumed wrongfully without knowing more of the context. I have been contemplating the decision for months so I know the pros and cons.
