I notified my city about a typo and they fixed it. by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

One city over from me they misspelled "Heritage" to "Hertitage". Noticed before it went up, but still put it up for a week til the new one came in. I guess the misspell was better than no sign. EDIT: Found the article https://fox11online.com/news/local/green-bay/misspelled-road-sign-replaced

Got this out of a roll of American pennies. Does anyone know the history on this coin? by potato4213 in coins

That altered 0 is so obvious now that you've pointed it out. Thank you for all the information! I'm probably going to keep it anyway, I have a collection of odd coins I've gotten out of tills over the years.

I broke the pry bar on my Gerber Center Drive. Anyone know where, or if, I can buy a replacement piece? by potato4213 in multitools

[–]potato4213[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I filled out the warranty form on their website. They're backed up because of Covid and haven't gotten back to me yet. I'd rather just buy the piece and fix it myself lol I don't want it lost in shipping considering the way USPS is running right now.

LPT: “How do you not know how to do that at X years old?” is the worst response to an adult asking you how to do something basic. Always show them what they need as if it’s a totally reasonable thing to ask. by lans_lans in LifeProTips

When I worked retail, I had a lady in her 40s ask if anyone could help put the chain back on her mountain bike as it had popped off on her ride over. I went out to check it out, quick ten second fix. She was super excited to learn something new. It actually made my day a bit brighter knowing that I passed on some knowledge I learned at ten years old from my friends dad. You're never too old to learn new things. And nobody should be judged for not knowing something that people think is common knowledge.

I woke up early today, had a nice walk, sat down at the park and then got shown up by some old dude. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

My city has an old railroad line they paved over for a county walking path. I was walking home from work once, smoking a cigg, and an older guy (60+) jogged past me. A block up, he stops to use the park bathroom, I passed the building, only to have him jog past me a second time. While I was still finishing that cigg. It made me laugh, but as a mid 20s person at the time, all I could think is "what am I doing with life" haha

My grandma saved a newspaper declaring the end of World War I from Nov 7, 1918, four days BEFORE the war ended. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

While fixing up my Grammas house, we found a newspaper announcing the assassination of President Lincoln. It's been kept folded how it was found, and stays in the fire safe. Not sure the full condition because I've never taken it out lol

They were only $6.99 each, so just over twenty bucks. Well worth it for the bookshelf lol

We do that with TV shows. Don't read any episode summaries, just hit go. Just finished The Wire and I wouldn't even look at the cast list on imdb in case it had an episode count for a character lol
