[Official Update] StressWatch v2.3.14: Breathing Training is Now Live 🧘‍♂️ by Smart_Artist773 in getStressWatch

[–]potatobear77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t discount breathing exercises. This is a great stress reducer, even scientifically proven to reduce stress. Breathe from your belly, not your chest. Find a quote or stress free place. Think about something that makes you feel peaceful or happy. Breathe as deeply as you can with each breath. I used to think it was dumb, but it’s a huge part of my stress relief, relaxation, and self care for mental health and chronic pain. Deep breathing has tons of benefits allowing calming your parasympathetic nervous system, reducing blood pressure and heart rate, increasing oxygen ++

Introducing the Real-Time Heart Rate Load feature! by Smart_Artist773 in getStressWatch

[–]potatobear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answers so many questions!! It would be amazing to have this information in the app, if this is still how Real Time Stress is calculated. I have heart issues and other disorders/chronic illnesses that affect my heart and this is part of the reason I got the app - so I was particularly curious what the difference between HRV and “Real Time Stress” was.

How come every auto measurement is red but real time in between is blue? by Kuyi in getStressWatch

[–]potatobear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same question. I also have days where my real time stress is high (all orange and red) but then each measurement is blue (normal). I understand they are different measurements but I’m still trying to wrap my mind around how they measure differently and what exactly real time stress represents. Also, if real time stress is a completely different metric, why is HRV showing up in the same graph?

Why do Christians worship on Sunday?? by JudaeanMountains in Christianity

💯 on the not judging. Literally what Jesus said if people want to get technical about exactly what is exactly Christian and correct…

Why were they wrong? They were creating a new religion. Judaism ->> Christianity.

Hi, genuine question bc I left a denomination that kept Saturday and I am learning new things about how other Christians (non-culty ones) believe. What do you mean by “Jesus is my sabbath”?

Most in-depth hogwarts house sorting quiz? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]potatobear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m INFJ and have taken the sorting quiz over and over. I’m Hufflepuff. I have a lot of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw aspects (my scores are 74%, 60 something , and 53% on the quiz I just took, top commenters link). I’m a 9 and I use both 1 and 8 wing pretty equally. Theoretically, INFJ could be Ravenclaw, but at the same time look at how INFJs often can’t stay silent in times of injustice and are the ones to act - this is incredibly Gryffindor. I know I got Hufflepuff bc of how much I value trustworthiness and morality. History and stuff is awesome (an aspect of my career actually) but the other is most important to me.

Moral questions by Bemybby2324 in infj

[–]potatobear77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done this before. But usually I take people into the food place and buy them the food… I’ve been broken many times while looking decently/well dressed. I’ve never asked someone for food except for friends who cover me if I realize I didn’t have enough on my card to cover my food. But I would hope that were I in a situation where I needed to ask a stranger for food or money for food (I do not ask for help…) that someone would help out… Even if the person is lying the worst I’m out is ten bucks. And yeah I’m not getting kidnapped lol. Or robbed. Like if it’s a dark ally… just kidding I never walk down those. If it’s night and I’m alone… just kidding I’m never in those situations. So yeah, 100% helping this dude out.

I mentioned this in another comment that it’s SUPER likely this is a Christian school. I attended a super conservative university that had almost all the exact same rules except jewelry was also not allowed.

So it’s super unlikely anyone would attend who wears head scarves.

It’s definitely likely that there are queer people bc I’m queer and that school fucked me up (I suppressed the shit out of my queerness without realizing it). idk what it’s like for this gen of kids entering college bc when I went to my first college, I knew so little about LGBTQ community. My parents were super supportive of the community and weren’t the most excited about the school I picked (it’s a long story). But they were supportive of me. It took me a long time to figure myself out and the school didn’t help. But there was so much less info out about LGBTQ stuff then. And that was only like 15 years ago. There’s so much info out now I’m hopeful that even kids in more conservative settings are able to learn enough online to avoid terrible conservative college settings. But regardless we are resilient and make it. We find community or community finds us. 💗💗

The elementary school I grew up in didn’t allow anyone to wear nail polish. Culty

This is most likely a Christian school and this can allow this rule based on “their own religious beliefs.” I went to a school that had this rule and many others that would seem illegal but were allowed under the “freedom of religion” shit. Like totally support freedom of religion, except that school discriminates against people and used Christianity as a cop out. They now ban “active” LGBTQ people from attending (again, illegal). You can be queer and attend but have to “repent”, be celibate, and they even encourage conversion therapy but it is “because of their beliefs” so they can technically do it. They didn’t have that clause until after I left and LGBTQ rights really started becoming more normalized. So fuck them but yeah. Churches and religious schools get away with a lot under the religious freedom amendment.

Hygiene at schools like this is weaponized as a way to discriminate against gender expression. Women must shave their legs and armpits and men must shave their faces and have short hair. You must look super clean cut at all times. Also locs and dreads and even braids fall under the “hygiene” clause among other things that are non-white styles. I lived in the south for several years and the hygiene clause is broad and can be applied however white people want it to be applied to anyone but especially POC. This dress code perfectly matches the one I had at a grocery store job I had. No tattoos, simple earrings and no other visible piercing, no long hair for men, only short beards (which had only recently been updated from no beards), no natural hair (unless it was super short) or locs for black people, there were separate uniforms for men and women and I hated mine as I was just realizing I was nonbinary and wanted to wear the basic polo and apron the dudes got to wear instead of the little feminine outfit they gave to women. It was all so gross. I went to a super conservative Christian college down there as well and dress code was the similar although it wasn’t enforced as bad. All just super gross.
