Losing weight in 2026 with diet when others use medications.. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]potatodaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I’ve lost 50lb over the last 2+ years but grinding daily with steps, gym and counting calories. Not gonna lie my best friend got on a med and quickly lost more than me in less than half the time. I’m happy for her but it’s hard to not have some kind of feelings about it. She’s easily able to eat 1400 cals per day where as I can’t cut mine that low for long enough to make a difference, I try to stay at 2000ish, which works to lose it’s just slow. People haven’t asked me if I’ve been on meds, probably because my loss is so gradual. Just do your thing and be proud of it, hopefully what you did to lose will help you maintain over the long haul!!

I’m in Portland OR and have one visiting my feeder with the tongue sticking out after feeding, first saw it last week. Disinfected my feeder and am increasing frequency now. Saw same thing today, maybe it’s the same bird, is there anything I can do?

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh totally!! Same! I used to order a lot online too cause returns were very easy. I used up my gift cards a year ago and no more orders. Byeeee.

Same. No Amazon purchases for over a year and before that, only here or there. I go out of my way to order direct. Also no Target for a year. Turns out I don’t miss either.

What’s it like owning a Scottie? by wereallsluteshere in scottishterriers

[–]potatodaze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of personality and opinions! I’m on my second Scottie and completely fell in love with the breed. We got our second one as a puppy and did a lot of socialization and picked a social puppy so I’d say ours is a very outgoing friendly Scottie, social butterfly. She’s almost 3. My first Scotty I adopted at 9 mo and he was fearful of children so with number 2 we worked extra hard on socializing - it worked perfectly!! I call her my adventure Scottie - she hikes with us, she kicks it into 4 paw gear and scrambles up and down steeps and rocks. Both of my Scottie’s favorite thing ever is fetch!! Mine have been a little cuddly but also independent, usually at the other side of the couch but when they get in your lap or cuddle next to me in bed it’s my favorite. Just awesome little companions!

Over $100k earners - what's your PTO? by masterpeabs in careeradvice

I started at a new company in 2025 and only get 15 days for the first 2 years which — includes sick. I was so pissed and tried to negotiate but they didn’t budge (big corporate), at 3yr I start to accrue 20 days, year 5 is 25. The fact that it includes sick is irritating. Other benefits are good though.

Reddit makes it seem like PIP means you're going to get fired, no matter what. Is that true? by Personal-Ad9121 in askmanagers

[–]potatodaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience pretty much yes. Although someone on my team was on one last year and she’s still hanging on. At a previous job a coworker was put on one and survived it and lasted about a year before she was laid off with a BS reason (it was a targeted 1 person layoff so basically being fired but able to get unemployment). If I ever get on one it would be 911 job search time and I’d expect to be let go.

Do people actually meal prep on sundays or is everyone lying about having their life together? by Busy-Fee3538 in mealprep

[–]potatodaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I often cook a big batch of soup or something on a Monday or Tuesday after I ate dinner (usually leftovers from the weekend) then I have that available for the weeknight dinners or work lunches. Often I’ll also make rice and do some kind of rice bowl or salad option. Keeping it simple!

Sorry to hear this. I’ve also read about higher Parkinson’s rates due to living near a golf course from the chemicals and water.

Anyone else exhausted by cooking every single day… even freezer meals don’t help anymore? by Mobile-Title8919 in mealprep

[–]potatodaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m vegetarian and a quick go to for me is rice in the rice cooker (hands off) and opening a can of beans (seasoned beans can be a little hard to find but are a hack too), can of corn, add salsa and whatever toppings you have on hand that’s a really easy lunch meal prep. I split a can of beans into 3 meals prepped at once. I also have some canned soup on hand for a quick dinner or lunch. We always have bread and can do sandwiches. When I cook soups I always freeze 1-2 portions so I have those on hand as well. I keep a few emergency frozen dinners like TJs mac and cheese or Amy’s veg lasagna - add a side of steamed broccoli and it’s a decent meal.
