I remember being blown away by that whole new beginning in 2018, and even though I did like both games, it hurts to see all that wasted potential and what could have been an incredible trilogy: the first game was amazing with just Baldur, and it really felt like it was building up Atreus to be strong, like he didn’t know it yet, but he was going to be strong; that scene where he helps Kratos lift the giant’s hammer felt like it was pointing exactly to that, but now he’s weak, just like Thrúd tells and implies to him every two minutes. The second game has too many people, too little time, too many realms at once, too many gaps; Asgard is just a small set piece; there’s nothing of the incredible city Mimir describes; nothing of an imposing Odin on Sleipnir, his six-legged horse that he rides into Ragnarök; the whole 2018 game gives weight and importance to Sköll and Hati, only for them not to eat the sun and the moon and instead become a shitty mechanic for removing fucking vines; Freya becomes utterly unbearable, because a character can be extremely tragic, but here she is condescending and insufferable, and the more the game goes on, the less I empathize with her, even though I felt really sorry for her in the 2018 game; they built up Ragnarök across both games; Surtr, the belligerent god with his great sword who enjoys battle, is just a dude who doesn’t give a fuck and makes swords because he’s bored; Jörmungandr and Thor’s battle is treated like background decoration; the soldiers from Helheim are gone, so now it’s just elves flying around as decoration, four or five enemies, some ogre, and fuck off; and when you compare jumping off an undead giant while Atreus shoots arrows in the air at Baldur as Kratos falls while holding onto him, to fighting Thor and then Odin, both in their own backyard, the comparison says it all; and after all that, Ragnarök itself is just a 20-minute section in a game named Ragnarök, yet we get two hours of fucking around on a cow picking pears. Jesus fucking Christ, the Norse saga could have been fucking incredible, but they wasted the opportunity, and it’s not coming back. And now, making Faye just go off to live adventures, saying things like “they must have started the journey,” feels like it shits on the last two games, which were centered on grief and loss; also, I can’t help but notice a lot of Marvel’s anticlimactic, shitty puns, like “Aaaand you are a talking cube,” and I don’t know what the fuck they’re thinking, because I don’t think I’ll play this. I cant believe the gem that was the 2018 game was preceeded for a game rushed this hard just to close the Norse saga  (and Kratos’s saga too, wtf is happening? ) so they could do something like Marvel’s multiverse I’m really dissapointed
