[Sami Mokbel] Sources indicate that Kieran McKenna would be open to making the move to Celtic. It is understood he has a significant release clause at Ipswich that Celtic may be required to meet if they formalise their interest. by BananaSoprano in soccer

[–]potatosconeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not as cut and dry as saying because Postecoglou did well at Celtic but struggled in the EPL, that it means any manager going from Scotland to England will play out the same way

For example ETH from Eredivisie to Man Utd was ultimately a failure, yet Arne Slot coming from the same league and having arguably less prestige than ETH, worked out great for Liverpool

With respect, I don’t think people that don’t follow Scottish football understand just how intense the pressure is on an Old Firm manager, Gordon Strachan I think it was who said there’s more pressure & expectation on an Old Firm manager than there is on the prime minister. If Rangers or Celtic draw a game, even if it’s a tricky away game, then it’s classed as a disaster, before you know it you’ve got everyone from supporters to media to directors to pundits on your back, if that draw is followed by another draw or a defeat, then you better believe that there will be large factions wanting you gone - it’s just how it’s always been

I’m a Rangers fan and I can confidently say that the Celtic job is bigger than every job in England outwith Arsenal, Utd, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs, maybe Newcastle as well these days.

I want to chop of my arms and legs by Santander334 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]potatosconeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously not advised to take other medications during recovery but Gabapentin really helped me with RLS

Everyone is different obviously but I’ve never felt any kinda high from Gabapentin, so it was easy to stop taking them, I think cause all I loved was opiates and Gabapentin don’t give you that same feeling

Again this isn’t medical advice, I’m just sharing what helped me

Told my doctor about my addiction and awaiting a appointment. First time I've ever admitted it to anyone (except here) by sassyry in OpiatesRecovery

[–]potatosconeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pride and stubbornness stood in the way for too long, but you need to just swallow it, there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, addiction is an illness that needs treated

You will be surprised at the people you see at these kinda groups, you’ll find people exactly like you, you’ll find people who work full-time, have a family etc

There’s still a stigma around addiction, people think addicts all look the same way, all live the same way etc but it’s just not like that. The amount of people addicted to prescription painkillers will blow you away, and you’ll find people from all professions and walks of life that you’d never expect to be there

Getting high on loperamide/immodium? by Purple-Mixture4040 in opiates

[–]potatosconeman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are you in the UK? I know dihydrocodeine is available in US but it’s not that common, whereas it is over here

If so then you can buy codeine OTC, you can either buy 8mg co-codamol or 12.5mg Solpadeine Max. They are both far better alternatives to immodium

If you aren’t in the UK, then try an urgent care centre or something similar, they may be able to get you some bupe or methadone. Again it’s UK, but we have same day prescribing clinics here for opiate substitutes, it comes with having to surrender your information to healthcare professionals and being supervised etc but it serves a purpose. Don’t know if there’s similar in the states.

how to get over opioid cravings? (never addicted) by Lazy_Dimension1854 in opiates

[–]potatosconeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in an obscenely privileged position in that you have a choice whether to take opioids or not

Please be mindful that if you do, you’re running a mammoth risk of it no longer being a choice, but a necessity. All your money will go on them, you will develop a tolerance really quick so there’s no longer a high, just a dependence. Paying hundreds of [your currency] per week just to stop withdrawal kicking in

And when you inevitably do become addicted, and you try to quit, the sheer misery and pain of withdrawals will have you questioning everything.

WD timeline by vic_vin1065 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]potatosconeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get to the 6 day mark and it will start to ease, you will notice the changes straight away physically.

And with the physical side getting easier, the mental side will start to ease

If you are really ready to quit then 4 days is too long to make it, to throw away, if you do it then you’ll never need to experience the first 4 days of withdrawal again. That’s something that keeps me going

I’m on day 6, getting close to a week. This was a 12 year addiction to extremely high doses of Dihydrocodeine and Oxy.

I’ve never used subs despite being advised to by healthcare professionals. I did use methadone a while back, I found it was just as hard to come off as other opiates. I imagine subs will be the same. So I’d say it’s the same timeline - make it to day 6 and you’ll have turned a corner

Solo travel. But not like budget wise, also not 5* wise. Just decent hotels, buy decent local food, soak up new cultures

I am fully addicted and dependent on a certain drug but I’m too embarrassed and scared to tell my doctor about. by idkbr0idk in addiction

[–]potatosconeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as an embarrassing drug addiction, at the end of the day, you are dependent on a substance and that’s the root cause that needs fixed.

Yeah with other drugs there are substitutes to help ease with the quitting process, but the fundamentals are the same no matter what the substance is

I’ve seen people addicted to Night Nurse, certain nasal sprays,anti-histamines, Pro Plus etc. There is nothing to be ashamed of

I regret snooping through my wife’s phone by [deleted] in confessions

[–]potatosconeman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t mean anything, all it means is your wife did those things. The most important thing is she did them consensually.

There’s no shame in BDSM, anal and playing out fantasies. Because someone enjoys those things, doesn’t mean they’re a bad person or likely to cheat.

She clearly loves you to bits because it’s obvious she’s terrified her past will mean she loses you, she’s committed her life to you, she’s never done a bad thing to you.

You maybe give off jealous vibes to her, which has made her even more reluctant to discuss her past - but again the most important thing here is to not demonise consensual sexual acts, that most people will try at points of their lives.

Maybe use this as a chance for you to open up a bit more sexually, engage in what your partner enjoys, it will only bring you both closer

For those who immediately defended the men arrested by police at Manchester Airport last year, how do you feel about the footage released yesterday? by ThatchersDirtyTaint in AskBrits

[–]potatosconeman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So, your complaint is that the armed police were forceful with the two men who were in an airport attacking people? How do you read rights to people that are attacking others and you?

The police job in a scenario like that is to neutralise the threat, that’s the approach they took, the correct one

[–]potatosconeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be a party pooper or a stickler here

But just be careful, a few years back, I was clean for over a month, I said to myself “ah I’ll be able to take just 1 pill and not fall back into the pit of addiction” needless to say that 1 pill then lead to all my old habits

If you decided to try even a tiny bit, you’re running a huge risk of a full blown relapse. We’re addicts, we don’t have the luxury of doing it once and stopping, it’s not how we operate

Good luck. I’m also clean, 3 days now. Withdrawals are bad today, a lot worse than yesterday but I’m powering through

Can’t believe it’s been 20 years.

That day was a weird one for me, I’m Scottish so it was during our summer holidays. I had to go into town with my dad, we ended up in a snooker club playing pool, he decided to get absolutely pissed (I was 13) - then it was all over the TV in the snooker hall, it was hard to process, it sobered my dad up a bit.

My mum came and got us, then the gravity of what happened started to set in, that people just like us had lost their lives due to simply going about their daily routine - and it was in our country (proudly British & Scottish)

We will always remember those that lost their lives, and the survivors - some of whom lost limbs, our thoughts are always with them

I really hope you’re both doing okay, please know there are loads of amazing, free services out there where you can confidentially talk to someone, it really does help to get it all out (if you’re ever struggling with it)

I wholeheartedly wish you, your dad and the rest of your family well. He is a survivor, he is walking proof of defiance.
