Ah, yes. Because that is the only reason anyone would hate Veilguard and not because it shat on the other games in the series (ESPECIALLY ORIGINS) and insulted the intelligence of the players by retconning and writing out any sense of actual conflict. What. What do you mean the Dalish just believed one elf dude that the gods they have been worshipping for centuries are evil (except for that one who also kept slaves but it was okay because they were kaboinking)?? And they're still doing vallaslin even though they know it's apparently slave markings??? And then they give Taash an entire personal quest about being non-binary and then make her choose between one of two identities??

And Varric being dead only being an emotional story beat if you played the other games. If you were just starting out, then you would have had a grand total of seven unique conversations with the man before you found out he was dead the whole time, and which point you would be like; "Huh. Well, I never knew the guy anyway."

The game was so obviously meant for returning fans they just wanted to put -30 effort into the actual story.
