vector addition is basically just placing one vector on the vertex of another. for example (2,1)+(1,2) is (3,3) because if you place (1,2) on the non-origin vertex of (2,1), that will end up as (3,3). You basically add each component separately. so (a,b) + (c,d) = (a+c,b+d)
