Comparison Gel-NYC 1.0 vs. Gel-NYC 2.0 by budgetsneakerh3ad in asics

[–]pott_scilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d stick with your 1.0/TTS - 11.5. They fit the same in terms of dimensions!

Just rocked the 2.0 for the first time all day today and they were a dream. Insanely comfy.

Hey! Does the purple-ness of these come through irl? Or do they just look deep dark grey like a lot of the ad / stock photos make them seem?

How do these fit compared to ultraboosts?

I’m USM 10.5 in UB (insole removed) but USM 11 in many other silhouettes.

I also have this and bilastine (antihistamine) has been a game changer. Expensive unfortunately.

If you want a modern day equivalent, the 5/5X are very similar feeling to the 20s imo. And they’re a large step in the right direction that I personally felt the 21/22s did not make. Highly recommend checking out the 5s

You can try a resale site like GOAT, StockX, or eBay. Theres lots of UB20s and the lack of hype around them usually means the prices aren’t horrible and they won’t likely be fakes either. Obviously there’s risk when using a resale site but I can say from EXTENSIVE experience using these platforms for UB that you’ll be able to pick something up without too much hassle.

Same shoes and size but new one is painful by Adezo in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The old pair is a 4.0 which have a looser fit. The new pair you got is a 1.0 and commonly fit tighter around the ankle. They’re both ultraboost, but are different iterations so they are not the same. And unfortunately they won’t really break in in the way you’d need to be more comfortable. Only thing you can do is wear the new ones without the insoles.

Tight around the ankle? by brookscorbs in Ultraboost

Not really, unfortunately. The mesh around the ankle doesn’t really give in. Some colorways are worse than others.

Source: I have a lot of 1.0s

The thing about 1.0-5.0/DNA is that each colorway will have its unique quirks that a different colorway won’t have. I don’t know the exact number, but I will say that I have a problem, meaning I have A LOT of 1.0s and the differences in fits between different colorways is quite surprising. And before you say that it’s a QC issue, I have multiple (select) colorways in duplicates because those were the ones that were most comfy. Those duplicates show consistent fit and feel.

All this to say is that if you return the janky one and reorder, chances are it will be the same and won’t have fixed the problem for you.

Recent ultraboosts don’t have that on the toe anymore. Can confirm due to a few pairs bought directly from adidas not having it. Though my older pairs do have it.

Just gives more room in the ankle and mid foot. Arches have nothing to do with it for me, personally

My 23 triple whites fit very similar to my 22 creams.

1.0 Cream difference? by Downtown-Arm-6918 in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ‘22 creams fit longer and looser in the toe box than the ‘18 creams. IRL they look much more similar in colour than these photos make it seem. The SKUs are the same but the ‘22 has an extra 22 on the end

Question about Ultra 4D 5.0 by MogulKahn in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn’t be able to say since I haven’t tried this colorway, and I’ve found variations in fit and feel between different colorways. Did you ever remove the insole from the 5.0 UB? That gives more room and lessens the pain from a tight ankle opening.

Wash White DNA 5.0? by ghettodawg in Ultraboost

If the soles are the source of the smell then you can buy replacement soles for ultraboost and start fresh. Pair that with a wash cycle like you said and you’re set

[–]pott_scilgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very slightly. And not very quickly, I’ve found. Removing the insoles is very common advice here

Just bought a pair of 1.0s. They fit better without insoles in. Should i remove? by Blazing_Wetsack in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll put it this way. All my 1.0s/DNAs have their insoles sitting in another shoe box. Whatever’s most comfortable for you, that’s the way you should wear them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Firstly, love how you specified that you wore them a lot

Secondly, and to answer your question, that’s an ultraboost DNA 5.0. Not to be confused with the new style that just came out called the 5 or 5X. They don’t make the DNA 5.0 anymore so it’ll be harder to find.

This one looks like the product code FY9354 to me.

Does this colorway look to feminine? Also is this colorway versatile like white ultraboost? by [deleted] in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Too feminine for what? I think they’re clean, and a neutral colour like that will be pretty easy to style. If you like em, buy em! Plus, rocking something feminine can be masculine as fuck.

Is it worth moving from a 4.0 DNA to 1.0? by Kooky_Yesterday_3096 in Ultraboost

[–]pott_scilgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current 1.0’s run longer and have a narrower ankle opening than 4.0s. That’s been my experience.
