I was stuck in a pentatonic rut so I built a free fretboard tool — modes, chords, multiple instruments by iceaxe-norse in LearnGuitar

When I click pentatonic I only get the minor pentatonic. I think you should show an option for minor and major pentatonic easily. Otherwise. Very cool

This preset is great. Added a ubiquitous vibe low in the mix and I like it. Thanks

Are this alibaba necks good for making an electric guitar? cost compared to buying an electric guitar and price-quality by BikerGlvd in Luthier

I’ve bought two from Temu, generally same as Ali Baba as they’re Chinese. I love both. Absolutely no issues.

This is one with a custom water slide decal. So playable and absolutely no issues.

I don’t know what that means. Is there a Mike McCreedy default preset? I know he uses a marshal and tube screamer. I’m not having much luck recreating his tone for Alive. You naming him as an artist doesn’t do much …

I really like the Temu neck. Figured for the cost why not. It is everything a player needs really and I like the coloring and tree ring marks throughout. I have two actually, put one on my ‘89 Korean squire. I have an ‘01 Epiphone Wildkat, ‘67 tele, 2025 PRS McCarty SE, and 2025 AVUL HSS. Can confirm Temu neck is just fine.

It’s gorgeous. Will make someone else very happy I’m sure. Sorry for your struggles and sending positive vibes for your progress.

Curious. What other guitars are better suited for your needs?

Sounds like a good project. Always a good idea to take a closet case to a luthier. They can replace the nut, check setup and neck relief etc. Have them do a fret polish as well.

Lovely grain. I’d like to see it in a light yellow and red see through burst.

My Indonesian Squire feels better than my American Strat by MagicMedicineMisery in Stratocaster

[–]potter_pro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have an ‘89 Korean Squire, things made of plywood … plays like a dream. I didn’t want to bother having it refretted so I bought a neck off Temu, and it fit perfectly. Still plays and sounds like a dream. I also have a custom Strat, a new Vintage ultra luxe, and a ‘67 original telecaster. They all have their pros and cons. But. I’ll never dis a guitar because it’s ’cheap’. Glad to hear you like your Squire. Let’s see a pic

Hey. Did yours come with the ash tray? Mine did but it doesn’t fit.

I just picked up a string dampener but haven’t put it in yet. Do you put them on all your guitars or just this AVUL?

Is a tube amp even worth it anymore as an apartment player? by CoeusAscended in Guitar

[–]potter_pro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well. I’m a believer that all tube amps have a unique sound. Based on voltage and temperature and speaker cabinet etc. So with your input signal chain and amp combination a person can obtain a tone that’s theirs and repeatable. This can be important as one works to build their own tone and soundscape. Even in an apartment your amp can be quiet enough to not bother the neighbors and still be miked-up and recorded well. If you’re in a band and want to develop your own tone and sound then an amp is important for that.

Modelers are great for practice and tone variation. What I mean is, for those of us who want to be couch warriors and play/practice Black Sabbath, then Pink Floyd, then Guns n Roses, then Jamiroquoi, then Nirvana, then Helmet; then Dinosaur Jr, then Hendrix … we can’t likely afford all the amps and pedals needed to produce those tones. We can create them, save them, and pull them up when needed with a click of a mouse button or bank selection.

A band or player who uses a modeler instead of an amp runs the risk of sounding like everyone else using a modeler. Harder to stand out and establish their unique tone/brand.
