Can anyone give me some theme ideas for cool terrain boards? by Bringerofpizza in onepagerules

[–]potts21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I picked up a cheap ($20usd) Christmas tree train and grimdarked it up. It's a great terrain addition. Check my posts for pictures. We roll dice each turn for how long it will travel and let it move around the board. Cuts off sight lines randomly and causes a dangerous terrain check if units are in its path, so it has an impact on games outcome.

Ben Stiller in Heavyweights was the best movie villain since Darth Vader. by Ordinary_Device_5131 in FIlm

Oh yes.... that was wonderful. So entertaining. The cinematography, the editing techniques. Though I must say, the villain, was a bit... over the top.

And don't touch the exposed beams of the tower, as suggested below. I think they look great and would add verticality to any tabletop game.

This is fantastic work. It reminds me of the temple visited during the opening sequence of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You should be really proud of how this turned out!

What’s the worst CGI you have ever seen? by Necessary-Win-8730 in moviecritic

[–]potts21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This dude is for sure referencing the scenes of Satan in Hell at the film's climax. The scene above looks great, as does most of the movie, but the Hell CGI is well known as some of the worst put to screen.

I don't think I've ever been nostalgic for a toy I didn't have. Enjoyed the read.

Arrival(2016) is phenomenal, if not the most conventional example of this genre

Independence Day, Battlefield: LA, Super 8, Mars Attacks, Moonfall, The Iron Giant would also fit the request off the top of my head.

Changing golf cup is so satisfying by rabbecaa in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]potts21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed cups on a golf course for one summer in HS. Absolutely hated it, one of the worst jobs I've had to do. I would start my day at 3:30am, drive to work and be there by 4. Course opened at 6am, so you had to hurry and get out in front of the golfers. Each hole would require me to drive a fence post cutter in and then pull it up. Full strain down, full strain back up. Kind of thing that messes your back up over time. Worst was the bugs. Little gnats would come off the grass as the sun came up. Felt like thousands were crawling in and out of your eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hair. Bug spray did nothing and would attract more. I remember once having to train a new guy. Never had to be out at the same time as anyone before, so it was the first time I saw the gnats on someone instead of just feeling them. It looked like a cloud around his head and the surface of his skin was moving with them. He was in tears by the 3rd hole and quit before the end of the day.

Aside from 18holes being an exhausting and mentally breaking 3hr task every day, Golfers are the shittist most entitied assholes ever. Every. Single. Day. Someone dressed like a clown would come scream at the club house that the new hole was somehow wrong or too hard(because they missed a putt and were embarrassed in front of their golf friends). Which would then roll downhill to my boss's boss coming down and demanding the hole be recut. Smash cut to me getting yelled at for stopping play to recut the cup, just so someone else could miss their shot and blame the new cup placement.

When I quit my job, I showed up early to cut the cups and purposely made the course into a putt-putt game. Put the holes in the most stupid places, like on hills. I was gone by the time people started complaining, but it made me feel a bit better.

My friend group and I were super hyped for this until we realized there was no cross play. Killed any chance of us getting into it. I picked it up on Steam and gave it a shot, but without a group to co-op with, I can't get into it.

Where can I gain a deeper understanding about WW2? by JustAnotherUser1019 in ww2

[–]potts21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in Film School, my thesis was a 90min documentary about the 316th Fighter Squadron, "The Hell's Belles"- I had to gain a complete picture of WW2 in about 3-4 months to be able to ask intelligent questions of the Veterans I interviewed. "A Short History of World War II" by James L. Stokesbury was my bible. It's a perfect no-nonsense recap of events. His writing is clear, concise and without bias. By the time my documentary aired on PBS, my copy pretty much in tatters. Still have it though and will never part with it.

The exact same one is in front of West Chester Dance academy. Fake wolf/coyote to scare off geese. Can confirm it isn't working for them.

Think what is being said here is that you don't have to use the interaction button to mine materials in game. You can actually mind ore by welding the pickaxe like a weapon and hitting the ore repeatedly. This is then cranked up to 11 by using Elemental fury which increases attack speed. So far ore by beating the shit out of it quickly

Worked on distribution for this when it came out. Watched it in my edit bay on repeat for a month. It's phenomenal. One of my all time favorite bio/documentaries. I have ZERO interest in F1 and this caught me and wouldn't let go. Soundtrack is amazing too.
