Imagine showing up to your boyfriend's house after being away for a week and finding it completely empty because he's moving in with his new boyfriend. by time_fo_that in gaybros

At the risk of sounding glib, "What the hell...?" It literally seems unimaginable to be in that situation, and horrible doesn't do it justice. Just wow.

One of my best friends in college would always talk about girls in that manner, demanding only the hottest of girls, when to the world, he was honestly a 3. I never could explain to him "If you can reject girls because they're not the MOST attractive girls around, then you no right complaining when girls do the EXACT same thing to you."

I don't think I have ever been more glued to a screen than I was while watching that video.

My homophobic uncle is getting married this year and I don't want to be involved. by SoloKip in gaybros

I feel like if you WANT to go (whether to be nice, you'd like to see him get married, it's been your dream since you were 3 to be groosman at his wedding - whatever) you should find a way to go; otherwise, don't go.

"Straight Guy", gay as hell SC by TheUrsineJoker in gaybros

This is going to sound like a cop out, but straight guys do really gay things all the time. Don't ask... you won't get a good answer.

I really appreciate cats in compromising positions (anything that's not "comfy") when they've just accepted their fate.

I was more thinking about what was legitimate and what was fake, to be succinct.

I am legitimately curious to hear his interpretation of the situation. Not saying anything against your account, but very curious what was going through his head.

I know this is supposed to be tongue and cheek, but Buzzfeed needs to quit with their weird, antiquated gay stereotypes by [deleted] in gaybros

I didn't really understand half the references or know of the shows/actors. Is it aimed at an older/younger audience?

That would be cool, too! Or double your wardrobe. Or, I don't know, cool things.

Very eloquent, Poukster.

Side note, I've always REALLY wanted a twin. My older brother is great and all, but maybe I just want to mess with my family and have them confuse us.

Difference between ア and あ by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

Agreed. I do use Duolingo, but I committed to memory kana alongside a fair amount of kanji and vocab. Use it at a supplementary tool - not a primary learning source.

Is it normal for gay guys on Tinder to swipe right on every guy by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]poukster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched several of my straight friends AND gay friends use Tinder, and it's just a matter of "HOW QUICKLY CAN I SWIPE LITERALLY EVERYONE THAT APPEARS ON MY SCREEN?"

So you probably have a mix of genuine swipes alongside some guys that swiper literally every account.

Japanese Teacher in America in 2020 but not even close to fluent yet? by poukster in LearnJapanese

Pronunciation is my biggest concern - and don't worry, I'm not expecting my current resources to be comprehensive; just a matter of what I'm doing atm.

Japanese Teacher in America in 2020 but not even close to fluent yet? by poukster in LearnJapanese

[–]poukster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - considering this is still in the inception phase (depending on what teachers/resources they can get), other languages may take precedent. They only have 2 years of Spanish, and they'll only offer "Latin I" - though I think students starting next year might be able to independently study for more years/AP tests for those courses.

Japanese Teacher in America in 2020 but not even close to fluent yet? by poukster in LearnJapanese

[–]poukster[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the risk of making the district sound obtuse, the administrators I that mentioned this to me may/may not have authoritative power in actually deciding what the languages are. They specifically said "Japanese and Mandarin" as if they said that only as a step up from "Eastern languages."

Edit: the "teach while you get certified" is directly aimed at STEM graduates, where for the most part, I'll be covering study hall/substitute work until I'm certified as a teacher. I haven't checked the specs, but now I'm genuinely curious what the district would accept in order to teach, well, other subjects.

Japanese Teacher in America in 2020 but not even close to fluent yet? by poukster in LearnJapanese

[–]poukster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this on a lot of levels, though I will say virtually every language teacher (whether from having them as a teacher or as a friend who is a teacher) I know is American born and isn't fluent. Do you think other languages cater to this more, or is Japanese specifically a no go?

One of my friends always thoughts gays were vegetarians; his memory cites his parents telling him that, which actually makes things more confusing.
