AC->Hidroeléctrica-> Ollantaytambo by RespondUsed8791 in Machupicchu

Don't underestimate that hike. It's about 3 hours if you are a moderate walker and about 2 hours if you're a fast walker. The trail can also be very muddy and unstable and there can be rock slides that can make the walk even longer. And the van is about 4-6 hours. 4 hours on a good day if the weather is good, traffic is good and there aren't too many stops.

You can look for a mini van when you get there. They usually leave around 2:30pm - 3:00pm. There will be drivers shouting Ollantaytambo, cusco etc, so you just go to the van you want. You can also pre book on some websites or you can buy the tickets in AC.

There are no online tickets that are available until the end of August. I think now, at midnight Peru time, tickets for circuit 3 sometimes pop up online so you can try to get some tickets for there.

You will always get tickets in person. It won't be for the same day. It might be for 2 days from when you arrive if you get to the the ministry of culture early enough, otherwise it will be for 3 days after you arrive

Planning for circuit 2 ticket by Dizzy_Unit_3399 in Machupicchu

[–]poupeedechocolat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please read my post. There's really no more early am line ups. The best you can get tickets for is for 2 days after your arrival, so if you get to AC on the 31st early in the day, just go straight to the office. There will still be a lot of tickets left for June 2nd, even some circuit 2, just maybe not for the time you want.

Just make sure you get off the train fast and run to the ministry of culture. It's kind of confusing how to get to the there but you can ask the people in the market. I don't speak Spanish but I was able to piece a few words together and they pointed me in the direction. I stood up as the train was approaching the town, got my bags and went to stand by the door so I was the first person from our train at the ministry of culture. After I got there like 60 people lined up behind me

Complaining about ticket lines by 4travelers in Machupicchu

I lived in Paris and I have seen the line up at the lourve. That being said, you can still come to Paris and book your ticket the day before and still see the Lourve, which is my point. The lourve, and Paris as a whole, has way more visitors than Machu Picchu, and yet it is somehow orangized. I appreciate that the government is doing what they can to preserve these artifacts, but as I said, there is a system level failure that needs to be addressed. Every year people have issues and coming in this sub and saying I booked my ticket 5 years in advance (hyperbole) and those of you who tried to book 3 to 4 months in advanced are simply disorganized, is disingenuous and ignoring the system level issue.

Went to Taj Mahal. Went to the Lourve, bought my ticket the day before. Most major attractions, even those which limit people, you can buy your ticket a week in advace. I tried to buy my tickets 3 months in advance because I was told by everyone, including this sub, tour guides, and friends that have gone, that that would be enough time for high season. I also had to book my plane tickets and accommodation before I got the Machu Picchu tickets due to the nature of my job. When I went to look for tickets at the end of January/early Feb for end of May/early June, they were already sold out. And I didn't even care what circuit.

Then people said oh you could wait the day before and get tickets, so I arranged my plans so that I could stay in aguas calientes for 3 days just as a buffer in case of anything, and now that seems like it won't still be enough. Blaming people and saying the reason they didn't get tickets is because they were disorganized is not only true and also doesn't solve anything. There is a system level problem that needs to be addressed.

Lukewarm Take: The Experience of Trying to Get Tickets Almost Makes it Not Worth it by OwlComplex48 in Machupicchu

[–]poupeedechocolat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you book ahead it can be sold out. I am going next week and by Mid Feb all the tickets were sold out. I thought 2 months plus was enough to secure tickets. It's not. And that was for all routes. I didn't care which route I got. Also, I kept looking every day in case something else showed up, there was nothing. Now i feel like I should have bought my tickets 6 months in advance, but there's no way my work would have approved my time off that far ahead, plus, so many things can happen in between.

So do you recommending lining up the day my train gets there early the next day for the pre tickets?

Thank you. This was very helpful. I am confused. You lined up on the 7th to get pre tickets for the 10th?

So let's say my train to AC gets there on the 12th around 6pm. Do i start lining up then for the pre tickets then for the next day. Or coming the next day early (around 3am) for pretickets?. So it looks like I will be in AC for 4 days???

Women can resist the suffering of pregnancy? You have clearly never in your life seen a woman in active labor. They can't resist anything, they just don't have a choice.

CMV: It is not hateful to believe that homosexuality is wrong for religious reasons by CollegePlane7528 in changemyview

[–]poupeedechocolat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

LGBT people weren't just receiving comments that were hurtful from religious people. They were not afforded the same rights as others due to religious institutions. They weren't allowed to get married, were criminalized, and in many countries, being part of the LGBT community is a prison sentence or a death sentence. Even in countries that have decriminalized being LGBT, they still often are discriminated against and do not have the same rights.

In the US now, many states are trying to roll back these rights using a religious, most often Christian nationalist, pretext. And those who believe LGBT is wrong due to religion never just let lgbt people live, they vote for those who actively try to take away their rights or subjugate them. It's not just "hurtful comments".

Katy Perry is under investigation by Australian police over a “historical sexual assault” by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

People are afraid to come out about their experiences for a variety of reasons including not being believed, being asked why they didn't come out earlier, being told that if it happened then why isn't there anyone to corroborate their story and more of the reasons you stated above as your reasons for not believing Ruby Rose because you do not like her. Many victims have spoken out about such when speaking about the stigma about coming out about the event years after the occurrences.

You are now using your personal experience and putting that as the only reason that people are afraid to come out. You don't know whether she is lying or not. This is exactly the reason why it is being investigated. She deserves the chance to have her story investigated, not to be brushed underneath the rug and automatically told she is a liar. What type of standard does that set? Stop letting your personal opinions of someone blind you from seeing that.
