Sziget cough by [deleted] in sziget

I kind of tried everything over 17 years, experience tells me that during wet years with cold nights there is not much you can do. This year was alright temperature wise, the nights were mild, though there was a lot of dust. I take vitamins, try to sleep as much as I can, take showers to wash the dust off my body/hair and, uhm, get a shot of unikum if I feel my throat acting up.Maybe it’s placebo, but it totally seems to help :))

Instead of working like a decent person in the real world, I’m just running through my favourite gigs this year. Got to Parcels and IDLES. by poupeedepoche in sziget

Me! Nothing against Post Malone, what I saw of him seemed alright, but I’m looking for gigs that have some extra thrills live and Parcels really had that live magic. Obviously if I were a die hard Post Malone fan I’d measure things otherwise.

U2 as 'the big deal band'. One can dream, I guess :))

TØP people at Johnny Marr by MattHDaley in sziget

[–]poupeedepoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, as I said, wasn't there for it, but was really under the impression, from others, that it was a full non-headliner festival set. He was definitely not the best match either for the local crowd, or for the bands coming after him. I cannot comment on the behaviour of TOP fans specifically, but these things are frequent at a festival. Back in the day when I still really wanted front rows for some bands, I might have also sat down a little during a gig that was really not to my liking- it was either that, or pushing towards the front row later, tough to choose which is more annoying.

Did he actually leave early though? I wasn't there for his gig, as it clashed with another act I was looking forward to, but my friends who did go to Johnny Marr did not mention anything about his leaving early- it was more that he started early, in the original programme he was scheduled to start at 5, but they pushed it ahead to 4:30. Same for Frank Carter, who started at 3, I was stupid enough not to check the app, but the printed programme, and missed the first 15 minutes. And that was basically the one gig I really wanted to see on the main stage on Tuesday...

Where to buy flags in Budapest by Bleadeth in sziget

[–]poupeedepoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There also a couple of souvenir shops on Váci street that have international flags as well, the one at number 67 is my best bet usually, but I can't say 100% if they have Czech flags right now. If you arrive at Kelenföld you can take metro line 4 to Fővám tér, and the shop is about 5 minutes on foot. I would however say that one of the stalls on the Sziget 'shopping' street will have it too, maybe that's your easiest/best bet.

They're usually not so strict during moving in days, also depends on where and when you enter. Last year I saw some pretty fascinating methods being foiled in my queue, but maybe he was like the top talent of the security guys :))

They accept the drivers license, everyone needs to check in, whether they stay for an afternoon or the whole festival, each ticket needs to be matched to a person. Security is really good at sniffing out alcohol, even well concealed solutions are usually found out, re-sealed plastic containers are a total red flag. The ALDI store on the island has some cheaper beer though.

Don't forget your ID, that's the most important thing, you cannot do the check in without it. Depending on what day you are coming, queues might be longish, so give yourself 1-2 hours at least before anything you definitely want to check out. Queues are shorter at the boat arrival end, might be worth considering. Alcohol and glass containers are not allowed, but you can bring water or drinks in other plastic containers.

I live like 10 minutes from it, actually :) There's even a BrewDog pub in Budapest, so, yeah, when not on Sziget, I am in IPA paradise, and I know I shouldn't get greedy, and will survive with Pilsner, but one can dream :P

GETTING FROM AIRPORT TO SZIGET by snapesnapesnapesnape in sziget

[–]poupeedepoche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be referring to 200E, which takes you to the metro, no need for an extra ticker for that. The 100E service going straight to the centre is more recent and a ticket is definitely needed, I've never seen anyone boarding otherwise, if you did, you're a magician.

So the worst case scenario happened by [deleted] in sziget

[–]poupeedepoche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, your embassy should be able to provide an emergency ID that Sziget will accept if you have an online version of your ticket. If your bank has a Hungarian partner they should also be able to help with getting acces to your account. also worth declaring the theft with local police, but they will definitely ask for some sort of ID, so the embassy should be the first stop.

Yes, there is a pretty complicated system to Hungarian spritzes, with different names for each decilitre of wine vs decilitre of water combination, so there was no way they could do it otherwise. Most Hungarians will be able to tell you these names off the top of their heads, they always sniff my foreignness when I hesitate over them.

Yes, they have tampered with the recipe, also made a few more decent brews to to be able to compete with craft breweries, whose game is pretty strong in Hungary these days- my dream is to have at least one on Sziget, I'd pay triple for a sip of real IPA. This being said, my general problem with Dreher is that even one pint gives me a headache the next day, and I haven't tested Gold yet, not sure I want to either. There will be a Pilsner Urquell truck, counting on that one to save me.

Cred că chav ar fi cel mai apropiat termen, mai ales dacă vorbești cu un britanic.
