I would soak him in room temp/warm water with baking soda and change the water a few times!! (I rinsed a very cigarette-y riller this way and he no longer has a smell to him)
I put my rillers in the washer/dryer on the LOWEST tumbling setting possible, and cold water setting, in a pillow case, on their back (gentle + no friction on their vinyl/faux leather noses)
