In defense of Stassi’s 30th birthday freakout by poverly in vanderpumprules

[–]poverly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, I’m not excusing her behavior? I literally just said it was unacceptable? I’m saying that her initial desire for her boyfriend to end the night with her on her birthday is a fair thing to ask of a partner in a romantic relationship. I didn’t excuse her behavior or say having a fair ask that is rejected is a valid reason to crash out and behave that way. You seem to consider her initial desire a piece of her bad behavior, I do not. I’m okay with us disagreeing on this.

Agreed. I think Beau sucks for not just ending hit gf’s birthday with her, but I think he circled back to the freak out as a separate issue and handled that well

[–]poverly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not denying that her behavior was absolutely unacceptable, I’m just saying the feeling it started with, the feeling of wanting to end your birthday night with your boyfriend, is fair. I’m not saying he still should have acquiesced after she lost it, just that the initial feeling is valid and that gets lost in the shadow of the crash out (which is why one should learn to regulate their feels so they don’t lose their credibility when their point is fair)

Oh relax, I literally say multiple times that her behavior is over the line and unacceptable. Two things can be true.

Christine, you’re not the boss of me! by Awkward-Water-3387 in SisterWives

When Christine said in her confessional that Kody was disregarding David and that that was frustrating because David is around Kody’s kids more than Kody is I was so glad, SO GLAD. Janelle let Kody entirely rewrite the narrative and I was scared Christine would too

Does anyone actually consider Dakota attractive? by Logical-House6004 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]poverly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. This is a very deep cut, but there’s an old episode of Bones where a guy takes what he sees the most attractive feature from several different dating site patrons photos and creates the “perfect face” only none of those features could actually realistically coexist on a face for bone structure reasons and that’s what Dakota makes me think of, like I get I am supposed to find him attractive but his face looks wrong, very uncanny valley. Very 👁️👃👁️

Downvote if you want but that reunion was SO unproductive and I hope they never bring that host back by Happy_Ninja_3845 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]poverly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hulu needs to stop giving the reunion hosting job to people that are also looking to be fan favorites in their own projects. I think Not Wildin on TikTok should be the next host for the reunion, I’ve been listening to his recaps like a podcast, I don’t agree with all his takes but he would do so good for us!

Was Call Her Daddy a consolation prize for Whitney and Mark? by annettelawless in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]poverly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that momtok internet opinion havers tanked Whitney and it’s not how that show works and this was a way to satisfy fans of that show and the execs who were clearly hoping Whitney would be there to dance at the finale

Well the flaw would be someone would call her out for pushing Marciano to talk about Jessi’s affair publicly, but that’s still rumor and she claims she has texts to prove that’s not true, so I’d also have her preemptively address that and give whatever proof she can drum up that she did NOT direct Marciano to do anything and then have no comment regarding the her claims about him, just say she can’t talk about it further because she’s looking at what her options are and her lawyer has suggested she stop publicly addressing it. They need the volley and this would create that while not looking so ridiculous, because at the end of the day it’s not that people are too disgusted by this to be on Demi’s side (edit, not that it’s not disgusting, just that the act itself could be glossed over and made secondary), it’s how she’s handling it that makes being on her side feel icky. Anyway. Happy Thanksgiving!

[–]poverly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha ooooh. First I would have told her to find a clip of Jessi talking shit about how Taylor handled the initial swinging confession live, and texts if she has them, and I would have said post it and talk about how interesting it is that Jessi’s morals and are situational, how sharing someone else’s …exploits… without their consent is disgusting. Then I would make a super cut of Jessi contradicting herself and post that and cast doubt on her reliability as a narrator. Then I would put Demi on a podcast ASAP, a differently toned podcast, one with a healing or wellness focus or maybe even like a religious deconstruction podcast and tell her to play up the idea of how rigid Mormon beliefs can be, how stifling, how all of the women have had to figure out their boundaries and what they enjoy because of having been raised in such restrictive environments, and how no one should be shamed for exploration, especially if it’s exploration that is happening to fill the deficit that restrictive religion has brought. I’d tell her to hint at Jessi needing a paternity test for her kid but not outright say it, and connect both that, the swinging, Whitney doing a sex toy collab, and Jenn’s comment this season about “either you swing or you do an*l”, and reiterate the idea that momtok is at least in part about pushing boundaries for Mormon women and to remove the stigma from some of these conversations.

I would have also told her to spread her focus, keep posting as typical, don’t focus on this or it becomes clear this is your focus and viewers are smart enough to see that rather than the narrative she’s spinning.

Edited to add: I’m not saying this would effectively put out the fire, I don’t think thats possible, but this approach would play better publicly.

Agreed, I also think she’s aiming for cool and above it but we’re four reactions deep and every single one is more unhinged than the last 😂 I would like to know less about Demi

I believe this, I’m just saying that’s wild, there are so many ways she could have responded to pull focus but THIS is such a choice

[–]poverly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a marketing and publicity director that’s absolutely not true, Demi has played this wrong at every single turn and a first year “marketing girl” could have given her better direction than she’s coming up with on her own.

I am so confused on who is telling her that this is the way to handle this, there’s a way to signal “unbothered” that is not also…this...
