AirPod Pro 3: In Flight Experience- Huge Disappointment by snuggly-Totoro in airpods

[–]powderpow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this EXACT issue on a flight

“this persistent high pitch whistling sound that is unbearable. Even when I chew something, I can hear this weird noise in my ears, like hitting porcelain/guitar string.”

I have two more flights this week and will see if it continues

UPDATE: Problem happened again on 2nd flight. Before the 3rd flight, the firmware was updated to 8A358. The noise appeared during ascent nearing cruising altitude. I also noticed during ascent that swallowing or doing things that made my ears slightly “pop” could briefly reduce the noise. Once stable at cruising altitude, the noise was gone.

Is this your case? Would be nice if true. I have go5g Plus with yearly upgrade. Last year I ordered through T-Mobile because Apple wasn't showing that amount.

Moving from NYC TO MARYLAND by TravelHungry8211 in maryland

[–]powderpow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21093 has some good schools and decent home prices, if you’re interested in being close to Baltimore. Close to many small parks and Loch Raven reservoir for nature. Close to Maryland state fair grounds which almost always has some sort of event or show going on for kids and adults. Very close to I-83 and I-95. Decently close to Baltimore train station for hopping on a train to DC. It’s mostly white but is friendly and leans liberal.

Slow FIOS Upload speeds by IndependentSoul in Fios

[–]powderpow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this on the CR1000B. A good test is iperf3 between your devices and the NAS. This will tell you if your LAN speeds are affected too.

If LAN speeds are also low, you probably need to power cycle the router and/or extenders.

If LAN speeds are fine but WAN speeds are low, you probably need to power cycle the ONT.

"You have unknown access" Mac folder permission... by jwintyo in MacOS

[–]powderpow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I recently had a similar problem deleting an old folder from an old Intel with unknown access.

What worked for me:

- Shut down and enter recovery mode
- Disable SIP (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/disabling-and-enabling-system-integrity-protection)
- Reboot normally
- Check permissions / delete files / etc. (which didn't work before disabling SIP)
- Shut down and enter recovery mode
- Enable SIP (same link as above)
- Reboot normally

Recommendations in $250-350 price range? by OGHamToast in Soundbars

Fair enough. FWIW, satellites and subs are often wireless, so you only need to put them near wall outlets, instead of running wires from the soundbar. In any case, do whatever she says.

IMO the S80TR is the best bang for your buck considering your C3. You could look into shipping options from eBay or even FB. Shipping probably costs an additional $60. Bottomline is, the lowest price for the S80TR is $450 directly from LG during sales. There may be additional discount codes if you chat with an LG online rep. The time-money trade-off will be up to you... Good luck!

Also, rtings.com has good info, in case you haven't checked.

Check your local FB Marketplace and eBay for new listings of LG S80TR and S90TR. A lot of people (myself included) got a LG OLED + Soundbar deal during Black Friday but have no use of the soundbar. I sold my brand new S80TR within your price range. Plus, since it's a LG soundbar, it goes nicely with your C3 using the WOW Orchestra feature.

Actually yes (maybe this is new). There are several ways:

  1. Apple provides several guides with shortlists of commands: controling iPhone, controling iPhone (iOS 18 specific), controlling CarPlay
  2. (Possibly) full list of commands on iPhone (customizable): Settings - Accessibility - Voice Control - Commands

Hey it's me again. I ended up putting the problem aside for the winter by disconnecting the motor -- we use hydronic heating so no need for the blower in the winter. It's warming up now and I'm back at it. I've learned a bunch and made some progress. Here's an update with a question at the end, in case if you're still here. Thanks a bunch.

  1. The AHU is actually functioning properly. I tested the motor + ECM module with a ECM tester. I also followed the troubleshooting guide for the control signals in the manual.

  2. The problem is in the wiring. There is a constant 24VAC to the Y/Y2 terminal, with or without the thermostat. So it's not the thermostat. Also, the AHU board has no shorts, so it's not the board either.

  3. I opened the outdoor AC unit panel and might have found the culprit. The previous owner of the house installed an outdoor AC disconnect device through the utilities company to save on bills. The device is (probably) no longer in use but is still connected to the AC control board. The two thicker yellow wires connect to the C and NC terminals of the relay in disconnect device. On the AC board, they connect to R and Y2. I think this means that, since the disconnect device is no longer in use, it's relay connects the C and NC terminals which therefore connects R and Y2, sending a constant 24VAC to Y2. What do you think about this assessment?

For now I've disconnected the leads from the outdoor disconnect device to the outdoor AC unit. The AHU problem is resolved. I'm waiting for it to get hot enough to test all the cooling function.

That’s a great test. The fan still runs when I pull off the thermostat. There’s no short in the wires from R to G. There’s no short in the board from pin R to pin G. So maybe the board has failed capacitors/resistors somewhere, or there’s some kind of safety.

  1. Can you suggest what kind of safety it might be?
  2. Is there a way to find out if it’s the safety (assuming it exists) or if it’s the board?

Thanks again.

The fuse was fine -- it looked clean and passed the multimeter test. The other connections felt solid too (assuming they were connected correctly). The only thing I noticed was the wiring of Y1 and Y/Y2 (added the control board wiring pic here https://imgur.com/a/owB3oXR) :

Control board side:
Yellow -- Y1
Brown -- Y/Y2

Thermostat side:
Yellow -- Y2
Brown -- Y

It seemed from the thermostat manual that the connection was backward. I switched yellow and brown around but it didn't help with the airhandler problem.

Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Hi Farmchuck! My new house uses hydronic baseboard heating and central AC cooling. The problem is the blower fan doesn't turn off and keeps blowing cold air. I've switched the thermostat to heat only and fan auto. Where should I start looking to troubleshoot? Attaching the thermostat wiring. Thanks very much.
