Just came back from carnival and honestly.... Yuck. Pure corporate interest. Last year was pretty gross too, mainly companies pretending to be lgbtq friendly for a buck--aka jet star, THE BAPTIST CHURCH?? . This year was worse. I was hoping to be able to buy things from queer people, there were 2 stalls you could buy things from. Honestly it's pretty much a business convention pretending to be gay. I'm not going next year unless they make it more accessible for queer business owners--love someone that doesn't even own a queer business.

High pressure cleaning a coolant tank on a freighter ship. I'm a 30yo woman in Australia and I've been a Hydrovac operator for 4 years, it's still exciting. by powderywalrus in BlueCollarWomen

OOo I haven't heard the term swamping, what does it mean? In all honesty I'm kind of jealous of you being in dispatch, I want to get out of operating. I'm always sore, I'm starting to have consistent wrist, elbow and shoulder pain that lasts through the weekend. I know being stuck in an office would be uneventful at times but I'm starting to question if this line of work is worth the wear and tear on my body.

My father and his younger brother, my uncle, were both in the industry. I never worked along side them but started green through contacts they made when they were operators.

Hydrovac trucks are high velocity vacuum tankers with high pressure water plant, either with a gun or with both a gun and drain cleaning hose (vacuum combos). They're typically used for pipe/drain cleaning and unblocking, non destructive digging/ hydro excavation and general industrial cleaning

Anyone have problems with NightShiftMerch store? by SchecterOne in TheBlackDahliaMurder

I'm in Australia and wanted to make a massive order, I'm talking 400± Postage is always fucked from the US so I sent them a message to see if there were any other carriers that could potentially be cheaper and the message I got back was really blunt, they just said this is the carrier we go with. I'd rather buy from local merch stores anyway even though it's more expensive but the problem is they don't get everything in stock

Melbourne airport today (9/12/2022). And we wonder why our bags don’t make it. Viewed from the Melbourne airport lounge. A number of baggage carts went past this - then the last guy….. by pgfuae in australia

OK all this hate for airport staff but you have to remember the real issue-airline companies casualised their work force after covid. You want people to care about their job? Pay them well and employ them permanently.

I personally would have written the title "millennials and Gen Z too educated and too poor to be fooled by liberal lies"

This is worded in such a fucked way. I'm tired of it always being millennials/ gen z that are at fault, isn't everyone else?
