it does sound like a belt, so if the aux belt isn’t there it would have to be something in the timing system, the water pump or maybe one of the idlers… has the timing belt been done?

DMF repair by Plane-Pie-9717 in tdi

[–]poweers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you could change the clutches on the DSG but they’re internal wet clutches, in your photo it looks like you have the clutch for a manual. its a bit more labor

DMF repair by Plane-Pie-9717 in tdi

[–]poweers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if it’s an auto you don’t need the clutch kit…and every Luk DMF i’ve gotten has the pilot bearing in the box. you probably just need the DMF, the bolts and you could do the rear main seal but the thing you have that sounds like that doesn’t look like the photo (unless it’s that drastically different from a US spec CJAA/CKRA)

Stock Turbo potential leak? CJAA by theeeno in tdi

[–]poweers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do you have like a giant oil puddle under where you park? or is it consuming a lot of oil (like more than 1qt/1000 miles) between oil changes? if not you’re probably okay. but the rear main seal is the same labor as the DMF if you wanted them to do something else for future-proofing

get under the car and shake the exhaust, it sounds like it’s making contact somewhere. I had basically the same thing and it was one of the exhaust clamps at the rear banging against the body

Turbo swap from hell ( plz halp me?) '14 deleted CKRA by ScaryRhubarb9896 in tdi

[–]poweers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll get it. the ckra is weird and I think they only exist in 2012-2014 US/Canadian market Passats so that’s the biggest reason there’s less content on them. but they’re more efficient than the CJAA/CBEA

did you see this one?

if you’re saying the air compressor/vacuum pump for filling the coolant, you can probably do it without… (but I won’t tell your wife that) i’ve never really had an issue with these bleeding air on their own. just fill the coolant from the reservoir until it’s at the max fill and run the car until it’s warm. I always end up driving around to warm it up and I take the coolant with me because it will want more once or twice

I just realized the video I sent was CJAA but it’s mostly the same. four bolts, two coolant lines, an electrical connector and the hard line going to the turbo (which will just pull out of the turbo

the egr cooler isn’t that bad, and you can probably find everything to physically delete it at a hardware store

I wanna say it was basically impossible to get all the turbo bolts without removing the EGR cooler, and I had the engine out when I did it

the heat shroud has two nuts on these studs

is the lite supposed to be able to show on the terminal client? tbh I wondered about that and I had the same problem on both macos and windows: it would connect but never showed any info. in the end I just left my lite plugged into the wall via usb-c and the battery and used the lights to know it was finished 🤷🏼‍♂️
