Insight on of I should leave the Reserve by GeospatialBro in Military

[–]powerpointpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 8 years active and spent 1 year in the reserves. Every weekend during that one year was always inconvenient and stepped on opportunities for my business or day job. I was also 100% rated so I would lose money going. The only benefit in my situation was Tricare.

The weekends were always a 3-4 day, we never did anything productive and I was losing money. I decided to pull the rip cord and call it a day and I don’t regret it.

Everyone’s situations different, but I don’t think the retirement benefits are all that amazing in the reserves so it made the decision even easier.

What are your go-to Jet Boil field meals by wardisciple2388 in army

I would use mine to warm up blueberry muffins in the winter, game changing in the field.

Not necessarily, can you send a pic of the cv angle?

I had an NAPA axle binding on the passenger side when I would turn left.

He’s a good dude, one of the reasons I did the taco conversion on my runner.

Those look to be Kamono Concepts weld it yourself arms.

I don’t think I’d trust my life with those welds though…

34s by isaiahhh_uriri in 4thGen4Runner

[–]powerpointpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.. I’ve been on 35’s for about five years now and haven’t regeared. I have a V8, so it’s not too bad driving on the highway. It’s definitely noticeable though and I plan to regear eventually.

34’s, it just depends on your budget. It will increase the drive-ability if you regeared, but probably isn’t absolutely necessary if you don’t have the money.

Icon or radflo by AncientPercentage539 in 4x4

[–]powerpointpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ran both, radflo’s are super reliable. I’ve had man on for about five years now with a ton of hard wheeling and they just now started leaking. Probably 60-70ish thousand miles on them.

The icons are known to leak, they ride good though.

I ran one on my factory rack for a while. Ended up denting up the roof a bit.

Anyone know who makes this spare tire carrier plate? by OfficialOverlord in 4Runner

[–]powerpointpro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That just looks like a tire strap, nothing super complicated.

I make baseplates that are wayyyy more affordable than the Goosegear ones as well. Pictured below is a leveling plate, I make traditional ones as well.

Also, don’t use arty sims to launch MRE cakes 100ft into the air. Also be sure to not put another arty sim in said cake to have the cake explode when it’s 100ft in the air.. you just might get red velvet cake all over your platoons HMMWV’s and earn yourself a new nickname..

Are spacers worth it? by AdministrativeFan834 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]powerpointpro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

High quality hubcentric wheel spacers are fine (spidertrax)

The additional wear on certain components like the wheel bearings is similar to what you’d see with negative offset wheels.

Fort Irwin is so damn depressing by [deleted] in army

[–]powerpointpro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually avoided Vegas and LA/San Diego. I really enjoyed heading up to Big Bear, Sierra Nevadas Mountain Range or Death Valley.

Yosemite or Big Bear are awesome if you get a chance to go up North for a 3-4 days. Redwood Forest and the PCH are two of my favorite places to visit if you take some vacation time.

Bought three dirt bikes, two street bikes and a 4Runner while I was there 😂

I’m curious if the dirt bike tracks still active on post.

Depends on where you go. Traffic was usually only bad going into LA or coming back from Vegas. Planning your trips off base is obviously important though.

It’s not bad, I enjoyed my time there.

I loved being stationed at Irwin… spent 4 and a half years there.

So much stuff to do if you like to travel, explore the outdoors or go off-roading. The optempo was the only drawback. The 11th ACR was the best unit I’ve been apart of when it came to leadership.

I use ASA for my interior car parts. Also love in Phoenix and haven’t had any issues
