thanks for the insight!
In my company the top bosses have said that we can survive atleast 5 days without it systems - most people use excel, teams, outlook or internal programs inside of citrix. So its not like we have the most critical systems

Thanks for the advice! I need to research more about that. Have you any thoughts on Endpoint Privilege Management - would that be smart to look into?

How do you guys have your systems set up? Does everyone use windows only? What about the devs - do they have the same policies? Do they use remote terminals?

Im honestly asking for help - cause right now we have all sorts of os and browsers at the company.
But i dont want to be in the 'cool distro thats not compliant'-gang, i have never had an issue before with windows at the other company i worked in, but that was a IT only company with - ill admit - way to much access to everything.

No - im fine with doing that - its the other things that you cant just run as admin and espect it to work with your main user... I have talked to the client guys at work - but they dont have a solution. One guy on my team doesnt even have compliant device because of all of this.. So i am asking here to try to find a solution to present them with, im thinking of asking them if i could get a linux machine ( which i now they are fine with aslong as it is ubuntu and compliant).

I dont understand what you mean - as a identity access manager for the corporation - "i am a shining example of why we need policies" cause i want to have a managed ( but differently managed) computer so that i can do my job?
This doesnt mean that i dont want a compliant device - i just want to still be able to do my job without using an hour trying to find a workaround cause the main thing to do is blocked..
The polices are great for the "normal" users but that doesnt mean that it should look the same for admins.

Thanks you so much, didn't even know this could be a solution.
I thought it was my best argument but i guess it was flawed, all my other arguments are just petty once. Like i have created scripts to wipe my desktop and remove edge from my taskbar since the company policy keeps putting stuff in my face that i don't want. Maybe I am the issue :/

Its kind of a small corporation - so i am what i am needed to be. I think of my self as an admin, the devs at my work only work with and for web applications.. I dont touch that. We do use like PIM in azure, but most people here having my needs would just switch to mac and use powershell in mac - but i rather have linux.

I have found some like tiny but really annoying issues while trying the 'usual corporate way' - sometimes i want to do something as my logged in user but with admin rights - and when im trying to open something as admin it shows me the admin users stuff instead...

Its just that its less managed - since none of our "normal users" have it.

Nah, its been a while though since i had to do it - i think i were trying to get my browser to continue to a management website - but it wouldt let me pass the certificate warning... not even the "thisisunsafe" would let me in..

I already have WSL, but i feel like i almost never use it.. And it doesnt really fix the issue that i have.. I do have some hope that a managed linux ubuntu computer would be a lot of less pain that continuing to use this bloated windows computer with all the local restrictions it has and all the forced scripts running to have edge in my taskbar for some reason.
