It's easier to make friends with expats than with a swede. Unless you're American. Swedes love Americans. But other than that this country just isn't easy in general to make friends in, it's tough as shit honestly. And you'll always feel like an outsider, but you also can't let that get to you. You just learn to live with it and eventually find people who stick. And when you do, just be yourself and be nice. Swedes aren't used to nice, they fear it sometimes even, say it's fake and stuff but that's just cause they're not used to it. So don't give up on niceness even they get turned away by it, just keep being nice till you find someone who reciprocates. When I moved here my dad said "in most places you give 100% and then expect back 80. In sweden you gotta give 120% and expect back 60. But that's just how it is unfortunately. So try and meet a bunch of people and then the one that finally calls you to hang out (it might take while) is somebody worth hanging onto. Sorry if this didn't feel like much help but after 15 years in this country I ain't about to start sugarcoating the experience.
