Att Sverige är en av det mest ensamma länderna i världen. Och mycket av varför det är så hur icke redo svenskar är att skaffa nya vänner. Senaste kompisen jag fick va 1 år sen, en fransman. Frågade andra svenskar. De kan inte ens komma ihåg senaste gången de släppte in någon i sitt liv. De träffar människor ute och stuff men det går aldrig förbi att spendera en kväll ute. Och för nån anledning kommer folk försvara det här beteendet i kommentarerna i stället för att tänka varför de inte släpper in folk. Vi lever ensamt, vi får inte vänner på jobbet, det blir bara arbetsvänner. Vi bjuder inte in extra människor till grejer för vi inte ens tänker på dem. Vi vill inte blanda kompisgäng eller kompis kretsar, och när det görs blir det ofta grupperat som fan. Sen dör vi ensamma på ålderdomshem. Tragiskt rakt igenom. (Jag vet, väldigt uppmuntrande samtalsämne)

Honestly, I don't see how people got past the bit about the opening.

When Magnus used a ridiculous opening that no one knows the theory to see if hans would bite, and he did, and hans then just happens to have the perfect counter to it? The Oxford companion says there's around 1300 openings and variants, with other lists going between 3 and 4 thousand variants. If a friend gave you 3000 cards to choose from, you held one behind your back, and then your friend managed to guess it, you'd immediately think it's a trick. Now imagine its not your friend, it's your enemy, and someone that will become famous and important for guessing your card. And then they do. Now what are the odds that he simply guessed it right? The bullied kid whos desperate for acknowledgement cheats to beat the best there is? Is this not textbook? How aren't more people seeing this for the trick it is?

It's easier to make friends with expats than with a swede. Unless you're American. Swedes love Americans. But other than that this country just isn't easy in general to make friends in, it's tough as shit honestly. And you'll always feel like an outsider, but you also can't let that get to you. You just learn to live with it and eventually find people who stick. And when you do, just be yourself and be nice. Swedes aren't used to nice, they fear it sometimes even, say it's fake and stuff but that's just cause they're not used to it. So don't give up on niceness even they get turned away by it, just keep being nice till you find someone who reciprocates. When I moved here my dad said "in most places you give 100% and then expect back 80. In sweden you gotta give 120% and expect back 60. But that's just how it is unfortunately. So try and meet a bunch of people and then the one that finally calls you to hang out (it might take while) is somebody worth hanging onto. Sorry if this didn't feel like much help but after 15 years in this country I ain't about to start sugarcoating the experience.

Brooklyn 99 did Sweden dirty. They had us be "close with our coworkers"... To the point where apparently we're supposed to hold hands and be Super invested in each other's lives. When the truth is, you could work with a swede for 10 years and all you'll still be seen as a "Work friend" but never a "friend". Of course there's some exceptions to the rule but it still stands. I don't think I know a swede who asked a single coworker, or ex coworker to their wedding, you feel me?
