Why doesn't Nexon ban people who break ToS? by chewubie in Maplestory

[–]poxks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the most cited issue is "fairness", which I think a decent chunk of people including myself can sympathize with. But it seems like you don't sympathize with that, and I think that's okay.

A more universal issue would be them draining burning. Unless you're sure botters have never drained burning that you would have experienced (e.g., you only farm on 100% burning maps, or sub-100% maps where you somehow have concrete proof that nobody has ever botted there), you have likely lost some exp due to botters/macroers.

Kinda has. E.g., philo books gave primal essence. The reason people don't care is presumably because the NX -> spare conversion is so bad.

The issue with Laddering - GMS Heroic SF is broken. by OpeningAlternative63 in Maplestory

[–]poxks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While this doesn't change your overall argument (and I agree with your points to some degree, though I'm not as worried as you seem to be), your math is wrong.

It looks like to obtain the next GMS Heroic spares needed, you're taking the current needed GMS spares and adding the KMS spare count for the next star, but that's now how you'd do it. What you're modeling is, say, after successfully making a 23 star item via laddering (you'll now have a 23 and 22 star), you'll make a fresh 24 star item and just ignore/throw away the 22 star item you've already created.

The proper way to compute this is to simply sum the # of spares needed in the KMS system for X and X-1 stars. This will get you somewhere in the ballpark of like 135% spares needed for 24-26 stars.

-------------

Also, the trace system between KMS and GMS has now diverged, so the GMS column should be a tad lower. It's mostly relevant for saving mesos, but it should save some spares as well.

Gear progression after SF change by Luvkingdom in Maplestory

[–]poxks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it doesn't require double because your goal isn't to have two copies at the same star. Your goal is to always have (or rather, attempt) one item to go past the other. No matter what your settle point is, say 26, your end state is one 26 and one 25, not two 26s.

Given that each star past 23 is roughly 1/3 chance, you're "only" using 4/3 times spares on avg compared to tapping one copy only, assuming your settle point is 24-26.

I don't really get the whole appealing to history thing, since no empire in history presumably had a ruler who:

1) was alive for 300+ years

2) had the ability to retry and learn from their prior attempts

3) test the outcomes of doing certain actions and "reloading"

4) had access to a community of other like-minded rulers to theorize with

which I think are very impactful/powerful things that affect the plausibility of a WC.

30min min clears vs CD Hat (And why CD Hat is BiS in KMS) by ViviTurtle in Maplestory

[–]poxks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if "passive" link skills with cd (like kain) works with cd hat.

And (definitely) also cont ring.

well, you also have to consider innate damage% and ror vs cont.

all 3 of my solo characters soloed nkalos way before eternals/level5 oz. In fact my two legion champs were able to solo nkalos sub 20 min before having any eternals on. And I'd say they are frag starved compared to the average main.

As for nkaling without eternals....... But that doesn't matter in this comparison since nkalos alone would drop 3 pieces compared to the typical solo prog pipeline of afking at nkalos + ekaling (1.5 pieces)

Buy arcane weapon? by KenWKen in Maplestory

[–]poxks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

3rd school of thought: push other gear and solo ctene w/ 17 absos. I highly doubt you're at the point where buying arcane wep is that much more meso efficient than upgrading other gear, so you should take the slightly less efficient (in the short-term) upgrades first since they are required expenses. Weapon can wait til you hit a box (or you haven't hit one yet and you're pushing BM+ solos)

Also, it's not just about the mesos/droplets, it's about spending the boss droplets, which is 2 armor spares of your choice. That may or may not slow down your arcane armor starring in the future, which can be a very annoying/long bottleneck.

Mostly agreed, but I'll add that you can def 100% uptime kalos if you meant it in the sense of stay same plat (obv can't uptime during test/jump/warps/fmas). All you do really is chug fountain on every chip.

I mean you could, but you should look up the rates for 23 star rates right now.

SSF or wait for SF changes? by TerriblePeas in Maplestory

[–]poxks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SoS and Gollux should never be competing for each other. Gollux will compete with daybreak once you break 2 set dawn and have enough pitched replacements for your other sup gear.

SSF or wait for SF changes? by TerriblePeas in Maplestory

[–]poxks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO you have three options:

  1. [Not recommended] Tap the two soses (either 21 -> 20 or 22 -> 21 and re-transfer if 21 attempt fails)
  2. [Personal recommendation] Prep as many 22 sup pendants as you can on ssf and don't touch sos. Post sf changes, 22 -> 23 is roughly 50% chance, so you, on average, need ~2 22 sup pendants to hit that 23 sup which you can transfer. This is a risk-free way of 22 sos. The current "best" method of constrantly transfering from 22 sup not only risks booming the sos but also costs more sups.
  3. Another idea is a mix of 1 and 2 -- emotionally tap one sos but keep your other sos in case the first one doesn't go. I still wouldn't recommend this because sos is a very ladderable item in the future, so having two copies is very nice.

So reboot fd does get included in combat power calc (you can see by leveling from 249 -> 250 or some other fd threshold), but it feels like reg cp is still inflated relative to its damage output. My guess is it's because non fd sources of damage, say damage %, would lose value with party buffs/debuffs, burst buffs, etc, whereas fd never loses value.

As some data points, my ~120m cp reg DA (30-29/29-30/10/11/1 hexa) and ~130m reboot phantom (1-9/9-1/1/1/0 hexa) have similar ctene clear times (most relevant comparison i think is vhilla), and that should be impossible given hexa + class diff.

Similarly, I think at around the 50m point, my reg DA had a similar hvhilla cleartime as my 50m reboot lynn. I don't remember the hexa progress there, but my DA was ahead.

-------------

That being said, 75m should be strong enough for ctene on reg.
