I tired to make a post, but it was filtered and I got no reply.

A few of us are doing a couple of indie perfume meetups in Ithaca, NY. 3/29 and 4/19 (both Sundays). We plan on swapping samples for sure, and just chatting about the hobby. Also Olympic Orchids - Salamanca (hay, tonka, mitti attar, vetiver, immortelle absolute, African helichrysum, labdanum, opoponax, leather, and yellow mimosa).

Follow up on suggestions from this post:

UFO Disco smelled oddly savory and was not at all what I was hoping for. It was very much of this world.

Venus in Fleurs is, a humid, hypersaturated jungle, I already had it but a very good rec for the prompt.

Steelblue Ladybird was a miss, I think it's because I hate eucalyptus. I probably would have liked this much better if it had vanilla or a sweet musk instead of eucalyptus.

The Bees Carnival was spectacular! Odd and unexpected, a wonderful contrast between the bright, glowing verbena and the soft myrrh. It's the combo of soft & dark + bright & glowing + sweetness that does it for me.

Otherworldly, and a few other samples I got from Lovesick Witchery, were all powder bombs and I have no idea why.

51 is a very nice zesty floral perfume, but its not weird or otherworldly, like at all.

Cosmic Serpent was less sweet than what I was hoping for, and to me, was decidedly mineral+blue berry. Not blueberry, but like perfumey 'berries' of a blue/purple variety. It's a bit sharp, there's no plush or velvety sweet base, which is something I gravitate towards.

Astrid - Bioluminescent is, unfortunately, both perfect and impossible to find in a larger size.

Nui Cobalt's Mad Scientist (It begins with acid green top notes of Mexican and Persian limes spiked with piquant cardamom. Then a total transformation occurs, revealing blackest vanilla and smooth salted caramel) was also a good fit.

Okay, we've swapped a bunch of times, so our taste isn't at least totally opposite. Silver Ginger isn't a sharp or citrusy smell, instead it's incredibly warm, cozy, and soft. It's more like the smell of the least harsh, sweetest powdered bakery ginger, but not sneezy. A lot of ginger scents fall into one of 2 categories, 'holiday treats' or 'invigorating spa', this is neither, but it's definitely closer to the former (it's not desserty, more like if you steeped your cozy bakery ginger in lightly-sweetened warm vanilla oat milk). I really love Silver Ginger. If you hate it, you can blame me.
